I applied for a bio major but on my unofficial transcript it says pre-science (but I am in the college of arts and sciences). does that mean i didnt get my major, or that they're still reviewing it (bio dept)? i got my letter sometime in the past week.

That being said, how does UW give freshmen their majors? Does the admissions office determine that or do they forward the application (after acceptance) to the departments? Does the specific department mail a decision letter on the major, or does the admissions office do that?

Thanks!

I’m wondering the same thing for Business Admin.
I know it is a competitive major. On my unofficial transcript it says that I am a “Pre Major” in the Arts and Science school. I have heard rumors that the Business school does not select its students until spring. Does anyone know if this is true? Thanks!

My friend got his letter from Business in the spring last year. He was accepted early January. I think you’re okay. I have friends already in the CS major… ughh… BIO is supposed to be an open major, too. I suppose itll be easy to apply to, but yet another thing to do…

So some people have already gotten their majors… but I dont feel like I’m ‘inferior’ to them in terms of scores, gpa, and EC’s.

I’ve gotten in before some people who have posted int he STATS thread, but not received my major. I’m aiming for Biology. I’m still at ‘pre-science’.

How does this thing work!?
