Woo, it feels great to get my first acceptance! Anyways, I had a few questions about MSU I was hoping I could get some help on...

How is the CS program in the College of Engineering? Any info about courses, professors, or the overall program is much appreciated. What kind of opportunities will be available to me if I graduate from MSU with a high GPA (I'll also most likely be in the academic scholars program, and I think I have a decent chance of honors college)

Is it possible to minor in Astronomy? I know there's a major offered, but idk if you can minor...

I was planning on applying to Western Michigan University for an ultimate safety, but now I'm thinking I won't since I got into MSU so quickly. I would most likely receive a full ride at WMU, but I'm not sure how much money I would get (if any at all) at MSU (31 ACT with 3.85 GPA and attending a **very **rigorous math and science magnet school). Do you guys think I should turn down a full scholarship at WMU for MSU (and hence not bother applying to WMU)? How's the financial aid for in-state students at MSU?

Thanks for the help! I'll probably have some more questions soon o_O

^ Ok thanks. My family has 4 members including me, and makes a little under 35k I think (kinda poor o_O) I plan on working in college too if I can find a job.

^ Awesome thanks. It’s good that I’ll also be able to get some work experience in my field of study (that’s what work-study is right?) and make some cash.

Dang, so I guess it would be better to not apply to WMU at all? WMU doesn’t offer work-study at all I don’t think, and MSU is probably a much better college anyways.

What are you majoring in? Overall, yes MSU is a better college.

Work-study is an on or off campus job where you get paid to work by the government. The school likes it because they don’t have to contribute much (if any) money and it is a very low-taxed job.

No. Unless you work in a lab or something, they have nothing to do with your major unless you go out of your way to find jobs that relate. For example, I work with refugee kids and my major is Arts & Humanities.

All work study means is that the government is paying for you to work, rather than the school. It has nothing to do with actually getting paid for school.
