Hi I’m trying to see what my chances of transferring into Rice are. I was admitted last year, and it was my dream school ever since i could remember. I worked incredibly hard in high school to get into the school and it was like a dream come true when i was accepted. But i wasn’t able to go. The school was too expensive, about $45,000, and i instead went to UT austin. Luckily over the summer, a family member who use to be in a very difficult situation, unemployed and with many family issues, was able to get a great job, and said he’d be willing to pay for the difference if i got in. Now i am trying to do my best in school, make the best of my situation, and get into Rice. What are my chances?

Teacher recs, have decent relation with engineering professor, the next one will be tough since both my other main classes are large, and each professor has very little time for one on one, they let TA’s do tutoring, considering a letter from a close family friend whose daughter went to Rice. What should i do?

I’m doing my best with my given situation, UT was very different from the college experience i had always hoped to get from Rice, but i’m learning a lot and there’s a lot of great people here. I want Rice more than anything though. I love everything about the school, the atmosphere, the close relation students build with one another and professors, the residential college system, the complete feeling of home that you really feel there. The school also has great academic opportunities, Rice provides an incredible education, great research opportunities, and they have the Texas Medical Center right by it, im thinking of doing pre med as well.
I’m doing everything i can to get in. My main concerns are my College EC and my recommendations. Any thoughts?
