Hey,
I recently got accepted into San Diego State University for the fall but wasn't able to get the last 6 units needed due to overcrowded classes at my cc. I was wondering if there's any way I can get around the 60 unit requirement. I have a 3.28 gpa and am in Phi Theta Cappa honor society. If I can't get in for fall, is there any way I can get in for spring without going through the whole application process all over again??!

You should not be spending time here posting and waiting for a response, you should be on the phone to SDSU or meeting with the xfer counselors at your CC to see if there is a way to take the classes during the summer or what other options you have.

I personally know students who have been rescinded from CSUs and UCs recently for not having the 60 units of transferrable classes. I know the UC transfer student was NOT allowed to make up the credits in the summer.

Dash and find any credits you can that will count – see if your CC or any CC in your area has mid-semester courses or online courses you can take. CCs on a quarter system will be in your favor because they are probably just about to start spring classes (remember that a 4.5 credit quarter class is about the same at a 3 credit semester class, so do the calculations!). You need credits asap AND you need to communicate to SDSU how you are going to do it and get their approval.

Thanks for the info. I recently talked to several people from admissions and they all gave me different answers. Two of them said I may have a chance. I was able to add one more class that starts mid April so now I’m only 3 units short. I’m going to write a letter to the head of admissions and see how that goes. If I still don’t get in I’ll just attend San Diego Mesa college for a year until Fall 2013 since they informed me they’re not having Spring admissions.
