Accepted into UT Austin- is it hard to get in as an out of state applicant?

Greetings!

I recently just got accepted into UT Austin as out of state applicant. I'm from Louisiana. Honestly, I really don't completely understand how I got accepted. Thus, I have to ask, is it really that difficult to get accepted into UT as an out-of-state applicant?

What is the percentage of OOS applicants that get accepted into UT? I read on UT's website that it was 45%. Yet others sources say 7-8%?

I am truly and genuinely excited that I have been accepted to a school with really strong programs. I guess I'm just curious about how exactly I was accepted. Maybe it hasnt hit me yet? My class rank wasn't top 10%. It was the 33rd percentile (class of 55) and my ACT score was a 28. Essays were pretty good so maybe that is it?

Any thoughts?

Thankss!!

I also would go with the 7%-8% as about 80-90% of UT’s kids are in-state as it is in fact a really good university

thanks! ill take acceptance to ut any day!
