So a week or so ago, my friend said he got accepted to Yale but is not sure if he will go.
I am under the impression that
A. EA is binding
B. Decisons aren't released until December 15
Am I wrong? Are there ather acceptance dates?

A is wrong, B is right. Is your friend speculating?

GOT ACCEPTED INTO YALE AND WILL NOT GO!!!
is your friend mental???!!! perhaps he should go see a psychologist.

He Said money issue. But he said application was due in Sep so I’m curious if I missed something.

i dont think its money issue at all. yale is one of the 6 universities in the us which offers need blind admission even to internationals. so definitely they must be offering it to us citizens wont they? check out wikipedia or google if you dont believe me.

Your friend is a liar or you misunderstood the college that he was accepted into. There are NO acceptance prior to December 15th.

or he was just trying to impress you. lol.

Like I said - Liar!

liar liar pants on fire.

I called BS the whole time. I have better qualifications than him and would be at the lower end of the acceptance range. I would assume he is lying then

Recruited athletes can get “likely letters” some time after November 1 which is as good as an acceptance. The intent is to allow the university to extend a commitment to keep these top stars from making a binding commitment elsewhere. Some academic “likely letters” are issued too but I haven’t heard of these during the SCEA round. That being the case, it is not uncommon for someone to lie about an admission. When neighbors hear that I interview for Yale they sometimes tell me of kids who they heard got in but chose not to go. The alumni interviewers usually find out about all the local acceptances so that we can recruit those kids to attend. If not, we at least get the numbers of admits per school. It is unusual for someone to turn down Yale because money was an issue since its FA is amongst the best in the country.

Regardless of his qualifications… he is a bold face LIAR… no acceptanced til Dec 15…PERIOD.

As YaleGradandDad says, the only way this person’s story can be true is if he is a recruited athlete (and some of them can be pretty sure even before Nov. 1 that they are getting in, as long as their grades don’t drop).

anyway @YaleGradandDad i dont think the friend of op has made it to yale. even if i consider your argument no sane person will turn down yale acceptance unless he is lying and trying to impress others.

He is in no way shape or form an athlete. I am in Th IB program with him and he would not be recruited for athletics.

anyway guys what proof do you have to show them that you are an athlete? tell me plz. i wanna know.

A recruited athlete would have had a long dialogue with the Yale coach. Last year, they would have submitted academic information like transcripts and testing data. Depending on the sport, the coach may have watched them play at a summer camp, on campus or on a DVD. The athlete would visit campus and meet with members of the current team.

and what if im a varsity soccer player? will i be applicable too? dont get me wrong. i wanna go for science not soccer. but i just wanna know.

There’s a whole forum on cc about athletic recruiting, with a wealth of information.

ok ill check it out. thanks anyways.
