Is mine unusually high?

Income bracket: Below 10,000$

o_O
I guess Princeton wants us to sell our assets?

^Looks about the same as mine. Taking out $2k in loans and working 3 hours a week (to make $1k/yr) is well worth the Princeton education though.

I think that’s really good. Our income is less than 33,000. Single mom (dad recently incarcerated, they’re still together or w/e)

Nice! Princeton treated you guys well.

Really? I’m surprised. I thought it’s free for family income under 75,000. I guess I no longer feel bad for not being accepted.
I’m surprised that the average award at Harvard was $40,000. [Acceptance Rate Falls to New Low | The Harvard Crimson](Acceptance Rate Falls to New Low | News | The Harvard Crimson)

For MIT, I have
Family income: not sure, $50,000-90,000
Grant: $42,000
Campus Job: $1900
Family Contribution: $9,800

I thought Princeton would have had a better financial aid policy.

Yeah, I thought I would get a full ride to Princeton because of my family income. I guess not.

I have to pay about $15,000 excluding a campus job; my family income is $90,000. My family has one student going to med school and another applying to med school next year. Sadly, I don’t think I’ll be able to attend with the costs since my parents will be almost destitute.

What a shame. If there were any places at which I expected and hoped this would not happen, Princeton would certainly be one of them.

@Bilguun, you should call the office. There is no way that $3000 can be your proper financial contribution. My mom makes around $47K and her financial contribution is $1030. I think they meant $300. You should really call before you reject the offer because it has to be an error.

Yes, there seems to be an error.

Thanks sb1496 and silverturtle, I’ll give them a call in a few days then. The same thing happened with Dartmouth except that they want even more. Most of my other colleges require no contribution at all.

Wow, I thought Princeton would be more generous.

Is my package reasonable? My parent’s adjusted gross income is even lower than that.:(

Icalculus, what is your EFC?

my family income <40000

parent contribution 2500
princeton is paying nearly 54000, with 2000 work study for me

EFC is the official figure for Expected Family Contribution that FAFSA spits out

oh thanks, My EFC is $6672
