applied to Penn State really hoping to make it into the University Park campus. but I heard back saying I am being offered admission at Penn State Abinton. I'm disappointed and I'm thinking I must have been on the bubble for acceptance at the main campus. University Park would have been my top choice college, but I am not nearly as interested in any other campus. I know they have a program in which after two years at a secondary campus any student can transfer to University Park, but I think I'd rather go somewhere else if I can't attend University Park right away.

So my question: Because there might be space and spots opened up at University Park when other applicants choose another school to attend, is there any way to be accepted into the main campus at this point if I contact them about my interest in University Park and my view on the whole thing?

If you are determined to either go to the UP campus or to go to another college, what can you lose by asking? If they say no, you go elsewhere.

While you have nothing to lose by asking, I wouldn’t get my hopes up. When spots open up after final decisions are made, they will be filled from the waitlist. The waitlisted applicants are generally students who would have been accepted if they’d had their applications in by the priority deadline.

I’m in the same dilemma! I was accepted to Penn State Altoona but i really want to go to University Park.
Have you called them? Do they give you a chance to get admitted to University Park if your already admitted to a branch campus?
LET ME KNOW! I LOVE PennState but I’d rather go someplace else if I can’t go to the main campus.

Exact same situation. I will not attend Penn State Abinton as a freshman for the sole reason that there is no on campus housing. I called the admissions office, explained my situation and they said they would do everything they could to switch me to University Park. The man I talked to was very nice and willing to help. Give them a call. It can’t hurt anything!

Me too! I was accepted to Penn State Altoona. So if i call them up, i might have a shot at moving to upark? But what exactly can I say?

Haha I am in the exact same situation too. I recently visited Altoona and the only thing that would make me choose the branch campus is if I lived in the Nittany Pointe apartments. Obviously, University Park was my first choice and I’m totally bummed that I wasn’t accepted there. I emailed someone and she said that she’d review my application again, but I haven’t back just yet. We’ll see what happens! Good luck to all of you!

hey laxgal468 has anyone gotten back to you yet?
