<p>I just received a call from Wesleyan saying that I was admitted off of the waitlist. I was really interested in Wes back in late-April, but since I thought I wouldn't be admitted, I moved on and accepted a place at another college. Now I cannot decide whether I should consider Wes or just disregard my late acceptance. Were any current students in this situation too? Are any high school seniors in my same situation now? Any advice?</p>

<p>Actually, I already turned down CMC. It's just too far from my home (I live in Ohio). I committed to go to Wellesley.</p>

<p>Any reason why I should choose Wesleyan over Wellesley? I really want to consider Wes, but Wellesley and Wes are so different...</p>
<p>Wesleyan will have a dynamic, baby-boomer alum as president next year. Of course, so may Wellesley, but she has to win in New Hampshire first. :)</p>
<p>Seriously, I think the next few years could be very exciting at Wesleyan; if President-designate Roth accomplishes half as much at Wes as he did at his last job (the California College of Art) it could well become one of the defining institutions of higher education in the country and one its half-dozen best research universities.</p>
<p>I don't think there's a right or wrong choice here. Both colleges represent a long tradition of academic excellence and have a strong sense of identity.</p>
<p>I got in off the waitlist too! i sent in my deposit to tufts and have no idea what to do!</p>
<p>I think their atmospheres are a bit different, and of course, there's the single-sex versus co-ed thing - both are fantastic schools, and as much as I love Wesleyan and would recommend it highly, I think this is a decision you have to really think about and make for yourself :) Which feels right?</p>
<p>I agree; both Wellesley and Tufts are excellent schools. You really won't go wrong with either of them or Wesleyan. Go to the one that is the best social and academic fit for you.</p>
<p>The reason I decided to apply to Wellesley in the first place is because I currently go to an all-girls high school and I absolutely love the laid-back environment, it helps me to concentrate and I don't have to worry about having ugly days and the sort. However, I feel like I might need to take classes with guys b/c I will have to work with them in the real world, and the longer I put it off, the harder it may become for me. Luckily, my godmother (I'm staying with her in Philly for the month of May) has just offered to take me up to Wesleyan next week for a quick visit. Hopefully, I'll get a feeling once I visit campus as to whther or not Wes is the right place for me. I just feel so lucky to have been accepted off of the waitlist and don't want to throw away a good thing (but Wellesley is a good thing too so... who knows?!). Thanks for your posts guys!</p>
<p>Okay - the earlier in the week you come, the better, because a lot of people are leaving next week as they finish their finals :)</p>
<p>I think that the vast majority of people at Wesleyan are fairly unconcerned with having an "ugly day". Sure there are people who put a lot of time into their appearance, but seriously... no one cares what you wear or what you look like! AT ALL. I definitely don't think that should be a factor in your decision.</p>
<p>That said, please do visit. Campus is less lively right now because it's reading week and finals, but you should still be able to scrounge up some students to talk to who AREN'T buried under a heap of finals...</p>
<p>Gah, now I feel like an idiot for having brought up the "ugly" thing in my previous post. I'm really not hung up on appearances - I really don't want anyone to think that I am... :(
Anyways, I will most likely be visiting on Friday May 18. I think everyone will already be gone, but still.</p>

<p>Almost everyone will still be here :) It's the day before finals start. there might be a lot more people in the library and looking dazed and sleep-deprived than usual, but you should get a feel for campus. yay ! :)</p>
<p>I just found out I've been accepted off the waitlist too, and it's really complicated my whole situation. I've been pretty set on going to U of Wisc.-Madison for a while now, but I'm definitely going to give Wesleyan a shot. They're completely different in almost every way, but I think both would be a good match for me. I might try to fly out there tomorrow after my AP test, so would Monday Night/Tuesday be a good time to visit?</p>
<p>Monday night/Tuesday would be fine. It's finals week, so as madjoy said, the campus in general will probably be more subdued than normal, but Monday night (and Tuesday too!) there will be some people around relaxing after getting their first finals out of the way. </p>

<p>I'm going to Wesleyan! It was a tough choice, but I ended up choosing Wes over Kenyon.</p>

<p>Kityung, there's definitely still hope. Some people will turn down the offer, and some will leave after getting in off waitlists at other schools, opening up more slots. They call it the "ripple effect", I believe.</p>
