Best of luck to you all. If this an indication of the openings, hopefully there are many spots available. Good luck.

whoa!!!!!! did you just get off the waitlist? where are you from? and could you share something you did to improve your chances? thanks

Congrats. So did you go and serenade the adcom all night as promised? :)

you did, already? o.o I am sooo jealous! I'm on the waitlist, but not hoping for much...

I thought they only even /looked/ at the waitlist /after/ May 1...?

I thought the admission committee meets again after May 1 to determine the number of spots to give to waitlisted applicants. How did you hear? Btw, congrats!

I recieved a phone call. Thanks all. And good luck. My methods were sending in the postcard, and I wrote a 2 page letter saying why I realized after applying to Duke (My Why Duke? essay was very see through) that Duke was where I wanted to be and updating them on my awards/ grades I was about to put in the mail a copy of a new transcript and recommendation tomorrow.

I hope waitlistees take it as good news that there is still a good chance of attending Duke. Good luck all.

And purrli... I was in fact planning a trip after APs down to Durham... I was either going to serenade, or bust down the doors... whichever was to work best.

When you got the phone call, were you asked if you are still interested in Duke? Were you just told that you got accepted off the waitlist?

Yes, I was asked if I was still interested. And I was skeptical at first, then was asked if I would like a spot.

Me Too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My Mom Got A Phone Call From Them First When I Was Out And She Was Kinda Of Confused At First So Then I Called Them Back And They Said They Are Offering Me Admission!

I Was Actually Just About To Send Them My Letter Of Recommendation From My Principal Too!
This Is Sooooo Amazing!

I also sent them a 2 page letter showing my interest. I called and emailed my regional representative several times as well showing my interest and updating my ECs and awards.
I also got 2 extra letters of recommendation from my town council's chairman and my principal.
I just visited Duke last week and spoke with them in the admissions office.
My councelor also called them yesterday.

Congrats!

Now I'm flipping out. I'm waitlisted. My caller id shows a call from Duke yesterday, but there wasn't a message left. OMG. Now I'm flipping out majorly. I haven't sent my letter in, but I've had two alumni's go to bat for me. Wow. I wonder what all this means.

Can I call and be like why did you call me?!

I would give them a call - what do you have to lose?

Nothing. It shows it was at 430 pst, so it would be 730est, kinda weird. I just don't know why they wouldn't leave a message or call today. Hmm. Maybe they'll call tonight in the next few minutes. I can't call tonight since they'd be closed, so I guess I'll give it a go tomorrow.

this kinda scares me...I was admitted under RD and have finally decided Duke is where I am going next year...I haven't even turned in my letter telling them I'm coming yet!

Hopefully you all won't take my spot lol...

congrats guys! that is great news!

Trinity or Pratt?

congrats to all of u and gl to the ones who havent heard yet. must be never wracking 4 u guys rite now.

hope to see all of u in the fall as DUKE 2010 REPRESENTING!

trinity .

I called the admissions office today and they connected me to the waitlist coordinator when I told them I got a call. I left a message but she never called me back. Now I checked which number Duke showed up on my caller ID and went to their website. It's Guttentag... So yea. Nothing has been answered, so I guess I'll try on monday. Just wondering why they wouldn't call back...

For those who got in off the waitlist, who contacted you?
