Accepted off Wait-list with questions

Yo so I was just accepted off Drexel's waiting list today. I was accepted with the AJ Drexel scholarship, which makes me curious.
Simply, why would they place me on the waiting list if they would admit me before the national housing deposit deadline? How can they admit me when the RD accepted people didn't commit yet?
With a partial-tuition scholarship, no less?
If it is at all important, my GPA is 3.4 and SAT 2080.

Same happened to me yesterday. They wait list people and give them scholarships? dafuq.
Also I called to ask about the status of my financial aid and they said it hasn’t been processed yet, so I probably won’t even get it by May 1st. They can give me an extension or something.

My son just declined admission to go elsewhere so freed up a slot for someone (maybe one of you!). Not sure why they gave scholarships but hey, don’t look a gift horse in the mouth! Congrats!

That happened to me yesterday. I was wait-listed for a little over a month and now that I’m accepted, they’re working on my scholarships.

My D declined Wed and she had a 24k scholarship…so they may be reallocating

For those that declined the offer, how did you do it? I did not see anything in the portal to do so

@beth555, the site is [Withdraw Your Application to Drexel | Drexel University](Contact Us)

The called me last Wednesday and asked if I was planning on attending when I said no they said they would withdraw my application. It was followed by an email:

Thank you for your interest in Drexel University. It’s been a pleasure getting to know you throughout the admissions process.

We have officially withdrawn your application. If you have any questions or concerns, you may contact us at 215-895-2400 or enroll@drexel.edu.

Sincerely,

They called me as well and I declined over the phone. I’m glad my scholarship and honor’s college spot can go to someone else. :)

Since this is a pretty active thread. I need help QUICKLY!

D was admitted to Temple, and PhilaU both with decent aid packages. She was also admitted to UMD College Park with lousy aid (6,500) Net costs before any loans are Temple 13k
PhilaU 12k
UMD 32k
She was also wait listed at Drexel which turned into an acceptance yesterday with 43k in scholarships. So now Drexel becomes 22k before loans.
What’s your opinions???

What is your daughter’s intended major, mkelly3585? Has she visited all these schools and does she have a favorite?

Her intended major is architecture, which she was accepted to at UMD. Drexel admitted her to Interior Design, but she could most likely transfer into architecture. We have visited all of these schools. We live in Philly, so 3 of the 4 are in Philly.

Did you try your question in the architecture forum? [Architecture Major - College Confidential](Architecture Major - College Confidential Forums)
Would you be taking out $32,000 a year in loans for an architecture major? That seems pretty hefty. My understanding is the profession was hit hard by the recession and just now is recovering and I wonder about job prospects and pay right out of school, which of course is key to loan repayment. Personally, I would look pretty hard at those three less expensive schools to see if one of them would fit the bill.

Daughter was accepted off the waitlist today. Will not be attending.
