Accepted off waitlist-Please help

I received a phone call yesterday from my first choice Ivy league college. I have now been admitted off the waitlist. But I already paid deposit at another college. What should I do?

Put down the deposit for the Ivy league school, and then just tell the school you already paid a deposit to that you’re not coming after all. You’ll have to eat the original deposit you paid, though.

eat the original deposit if you really want to attend the Ivy school. Tons of kids do that!

If money is an issue, take the time to carefully compare the financial aid offers. There are some good calculators at [FinAid! Financial Aid, College Scholarships and Student Loans](http://www.finaid.org) that can help with this. Think about your long-term goals, and consider which of these two places is most likely to help you achieve those goals. For some students the Ivy that has accepted you is not as good a choice as the school you have paid your deposit to. Only you and your family know if you are one of those students. If you are, it is perfectly fine for you to turn down this offer.

If you believe that this Ivy is your best choice, then send the deposit. Let the other school know that your plans for the fall have changed. Who knows, perhaps this will mean that they can admit someone off of their own waiting list!

Wishing you all the best.

Thanks a lot for the responses. BTW to my surprise, the IVY school gave a better package. I am taking the offer.

congrats! hugs

Congratulations and good luck!
