i live in northern california and applied ed II. i haven't gotten my letter yet so does this mean i'm rejected?

Sometimes it takes a while. I live like 45 minutes from Pomona, so don't sweat if you haven't gotten yours yet! =]

I live in norcal and I haven't received one yet either. Pomona's official mail date is the 15th. Maybe they send 'em earlier but I wouldn't sweat it too much. I am trying not to. Trying.

Yeah, I'm in NorCal too and haven't received anything either... good luck to you all though!

I got deffered, so I guess that answers the question of whether or not Pomona deffers early applicants, which I think someone asked earlier. Good luck to everyone who did get in though; I REAAALLLY hope I can join you next year... does anyone know the statistics on how many people get accepted who are deffered?

call the admissions [or have your counselor call] and ask

I got deffered too. They didn't get my midyear report in time (goddamnit) so they couldn't make a final decision. Another 5 weeks of uneasiness. oh well

i was extremely disappointed that i got rejected. but i'm over it now. haha well good luck to the rest of you and congrats to those who got in!

I applied to Pomona EDII and was rejected. I was honestly expecting a deferral and I'm pretty disappointed that I got rejected but its alright and it doesn't bother me much. In the end, my weakest point was my GPA and grade trend. One thing I'm not sure about is whether or not they got my midyear report which showed a major improvement following really crappy junior year grades. Is there anything I could do in that case?

Keep in mind that no one factor, e.g., GPA, class rank, SAT scores, will determine whether you are accepted or rejected. Pomona is looking for students who will add to the diversity/quality of the student body.

Would a candidate who has the folllowing factors mentioned in the app considred to be desirable?

-Goes to a top public magnet school(They want more kids from public schools and they know i’ll be able to handle the demanding nature of the school)

-QuestBridge Finalist (Economic Diversity)

-From NY (Geographic Diversity)

-Grew up without a father (life experience diversity, puts stuff in a better light)

-Applied ED II (indicates school is 1st choice)

i doubt being from NY would qualify so much as being geographically desirable, and going to a top public magnet school most likely won’t help. But being a questbridge finalist, growing up without a father, and applying ED II could definitely help (substantially or not so much, I have no idea).

I dunno, I think that being from NY does help. Usually east coast schools want more west coast schools, and vice versa.

Thats what I thought. Does Pomona publish the number of students from each state? I know Stanford does.

Have you looked at the student profile on their site? They might. What I do know for sure is that they have a map of the US (and other countries, I think) in their office with pins in places to represent where each student is from. A lot of applicants were from Washington (doesn’t really help me haha). The student body was pretty geographically diverse.
