Good morning/afternoon,
I am attending a local community college
Here are my STATS:

Fall Semester GPA: 4.0 (English I, Calculus I, Financial Acct, Speech, BCIS)

Spring Semester (expected) GPA: 3.75 (Calculus II, Managerial Acct, Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, Sociology)
*That 3.75 is because Calculus II is killing me and even studying more is not helping so I'll prolly end up with a B in there.

Resume - Numerous Extraciriculars, Volunteer, Intern, job, awards
Essays - Pretty decent ..detailed and very thoughtful but not like the ones that are filled with verbiage.
Recommendation: 1 good one

So far 16 credit hours so descision wont be made until May or June I am guessing.
But What are my CHANCES of getting into McCombs. Internal transfer is really hard, so I left that option out! Will have about 30 credit hours and GPA (3.875) at the end of this spring semester

THANKS FOR THE COMMENTS (IN ADVANCE) !!!!!!!!!

I have a 4.0, but you prolly hav a better shot because I only have 3 of the indicsator courses. Good luck

it's difficult but i say you have a decent chance. the mean GPA last year for mccombs external transfer was 3.87.

and internal transfer into mccombs is actually easier. you need 24 hours at UT with a GPA of around 3.6. it chances every year depending on how many people apply but over 3.6 should get you in. and you would already have all 5 business indicator classes finished so you can take any classes you want at UT and get above 3.6 with 24 hours and your in.

Even if you don't get in, you'll get into the school in a different major and since you have the 5 indicator courses out of the way you can take easier classes that would get you high grades.

You have a strong chance at getting in(strong is a relative term for McCombs).

You and I have similar resumes except I don't know what to put for the extra curricular section because I haven't done anything my 1st semester at college. How should I put my high school ECs if the slots force you to check either "fr, soph, jun, sen" etc.?

And Calculus II is also questionable for me, I still think I can get an A but I don't think my first test was good enough, I can make it up but it will require some more studying.

MagicMan522 "How should I put my high school ECs if the slots force you to check either "fr, soph, jun, sen" etc.?" You still have time if you read my post before Monday.
Create a resume and send them (they strongly reccommend it I read) Go Online and search for typical college resume formats.. for example ..list of your awards.. then list of jobs.. activities... and in each column for example have the year and for how long you did whatever you did and brief description.

I just had my essays read by some lady at the writing center at my college.. she said my essays didn't had something that a reader would remember after words.. like "oh.. that kid who marketed mechanical pencils at the age of five" ..something like that .. Are essays Really a huge matter..regardless of your 3.875 and Great Resume? ..they are okay, decent i would give them a 7 or 8/10 but not like ones that have so much metaphors and big words.

Also, How hard is to get an A in a regular class at McCombs if I do internal transfer. Since I will have all the indicator courses completed, but science, physics and other same old HS crappy subjects that I'll barely even need in real life... How hard is it at UT to make an A in them if you took AP classes in HS and made Lows A's and make A in comm. college. Professors cruel?. etc..

Thanks for the comments! I am glad there is a way to communicate some of you guys who are in the same boat as me.

Also you guys know any online website to study Calculus ... if You have the worst professor of the century! and the book's author is going nuts with proof's that you don't need to know.
Thx

Just Math Tutoring

this is a good site for calculus II. its really helpful. he taught me in ACC and i think he's a really good prof. hope its good

Cramster.com - Free homework help in Math, Physics, Science and Engineering might be of help with homework. If you work enough problems, you eventually kind of get it. Or so I hear.

Nxt: do you go to ACC?

Thx for the sites. I'll take a look this weekend. And I go to Collin County Community College (Preston Ridge Campus) if you know where that is.....I know that a B in calculus 2 will lower my chances of acceptance despite of my overall 3.87 GPA and all five indicators course for UT completed. That is the reason I am also applying to Texas A&M (college station). Since I really have no preference, do you guys think my stats would get me into Mays Business School easier than McCombs?

Also, if I dont get into McCombs AND Mays (God forbid...I'll kill mysef...not literally but really I'll be depressed), I am thinking about internal transfer from A&M into Mays instead of Internal transfer from UT into McCombs because .....UT u need 3.6 and A&M you need 3.0 to transfer internally. Thoughts on that......

Thanks!!

^ Getting into Mays should be a LOT easier than McCombs for you
Either way, your chances are pretty decent.

OK >> This is what happened > I put down History 1302 as a current course that I will be taking the Spring 09 on my apply Texas application to UT. But a week later after the submission of app. I changed history to Economics 2301. Now the deadline is tommorrow for UT application and I don't have time to change it! Do you think they'll look at my transcripts and make a descision or just make descision off of the courses I put down on app. (which one of them is wrong as I mentioned).

Also, I sent in my essays both of them Today! -- a day before the deadline of March 1st. I don't think they'll be late since I sent them before the deadline and its online .. What do you guys think or know about it ?

<<go longhorns="" (if="" i="" get="" in="" :)="">></go>

I think you'll be fine. It is electronic so you should be fine. I wouldn't worry about the history/economics thing either. They'll look at your transcript and go by it. If you are going for McCombs, the economics course it better anyway since it is an indicator course.

Good luck!

Thx. I was nervous ..couldn't sleep last night so slept at 4 am .. but now its confirmed lol ..this college stuff is toughest thing I've encountered in my 19 years of life.
