accepted out of staters post here

I'm from Massachusetts and I'm interested to know how many others there are from out of state who are going to UIUC since they just dropped the percentage (see this article: http://www.usatoday.com/news/education/2006-08-30-state-universities-cover_x.htm
actually they didn't decrease the percentage - they decided not to increase it, but anyway)

UIUC is the first college to give me a decision so naturally I'm pretty excited - but the big choice will be between UMass and UIUC.

so out of staters....unite.....here. yeah.

out of state...CT

Oot, Ny : )

Son is from Michigan. UIUC is his second choice.

Oklahoma. aerospace engineering

im a freshman right now in aviation from california

I'm from NJ--got into LAS

OOS from Minnesota--Admit Eng.

OOS-Maryland

in business

California

admitted - international from Canada

so what would bring you guys to uiuc instead of your own state (or province or whatever) college?

while uiuc isnt terribly expensive for out of state residents (well, compared to michigan) it's still more than zero dollars, which is about how much umass would cost me (considering scholarships they give for our state standardized test etc).

what made you all consider ui?

Well the fact that Engineering is ranked 4th in the country is a start. And once i got on campus i loved the feel of everything around. That and Ohio state isnt the best and i kinda wanted to get away from home for awhile. Everything just fit together nicely....

From Cincinnati, Ohio, admitted and enrolled in Engineering

haha yeah i'm from ma
i'm pretty worried that i didn't get into any of my other colleges

i bet it'll be either Umass or UIUC ><
