Thanks Peacemaker and JerseyshoreMom! I do want to live in Nike, but they didn’t really give me an option. What I copied and pasted on my last post was one of the choices out of two that they gave me. I’m hoping that they don’t place me in a single room or one that costs a lot! I just want to put the deposit on hold for another week as I’m going to visit this coming Friday, just to be sure that I like the school and all. Thanks for the advices, you guys are awesome! If there are anymore suggestions or information, please share! :)

By the way, does anyone know the deadline for housing for both summer and fall term?

If you’re going to UCF for admissions tour, be sure to bring $5.00 to park your car. UCF was the only college I remember charging prospective students a parking fee for tour.

As of 12/30 my son was deferred to allow for a more competitive score. At the time his top scores submitted were: Verbal 490 Math 610 Writing 550. Then today, they received his Dec. SAT scores which only went up in Verbal (to a 530, making his UCF total an 1140), and his status was changed to Accepted for Fall 2010. I would strongly recommend retaking the SAT in January if you were deferred.

Other Stats:
3.56 weighted
3.01 unweighted
Treasurer of National Honors Society
Very Part time-job
200 hours of community service
2 APs last yr and 4 APs this year (but 2 are for the whole yr and the other 2 are for two terms each)

JaxMama, I was deferred in the middle of November, and am still waiting to hear a decision. My original scores were 490 reading, 590 math, 530 writing. I took the december SAT, and went up to a 520 reading, 590 math, 550 writing (very similar to your son’s scores) which put me at a 1110 two part, and 1660 three part. I sent those scores as soon as I got them, and they were received around Dec. 31 or Jan. 1, and the decision didn’t change. Do you think I will get a decision soon?

Also, my GPA is a 4.04 weighted, and around 3.6 unweighted, on my schools GPA system; a bunch of clubs, captain of tennis team, other community services, and 3 recommendations were sent out.

The collegeboard website said that the scores were sent to UCF on 12/29 but from phone calls, I understood that because of the holidays they were not downloading the scores or looking at it until staff got back from the winter break today, 1/4. From the sounds of it, you are right there and if they look at your app like they did my sons you should hear something soon. I know the FSU has a policy that they wont look at your app until you get at least 500 on all the subsections, I am thinking UCF might have a similar, yet unpublished 500 threshold, which you too just broke good luck!

thanks for the info…it helps a lot, much appreciated…my scores were sent on12/29 as well

Sent in everything to UCF in early December, (around Dec. 3 I believe) and still haven’t heard back… :(… Should I try contacting them via email or phone? If so, what should I ask? I’m really biting my nails waiting for this decision, it sucks!!

jdborough, im waiting to hear back (from a deferred decision) still, and I’ve tried both e-mailing and calling…when I e-mailed them they never responded, calling will get to admissions directly, but be careful cause I called twice, and the 2nd time the lady was really mean and wouldn’t connect me to an admissions counselor…but I’d call over e-mail

Okay, thanks for the suggestion seabreeze. At this point, I’d be happy to be deffered, at least I would know or have some sort of idea as to where I stand :(… If you don’t mind me asking, what kind of results did you happen with your first call?

Sure, the first time i called, i got through, but didn’t leave the person too much info, only a cell number, and he never got back to me…that was when I was first deferred, before I retook the SATs…I plan to call in the next couple days, leaving a lot of call-back information for the person if he doesn’t answer…and also I have a better reason now to get in-touch with the person now, since on the myUCF page, they have my updated SAT scores (which are improved) but its been more than 2 weeks and no decision. From all the stuff I’ve read, UCF Admissions confuses me very much lol

Hey guys,
so this is my first time ever using this site. I just wanted to know where I stand right now compared to everyone else applying to UCF.
GPA: 3.2
SAT: 1410
ACT:19 … took 2 years ago
BHS Diamondback dance company for 3 yrs, multiple awards

s0damnncliche- Hey! First of all, is your gpa weighted or unweighted? I’d say as long as you have a 3.5 you should be good (grade-wise). However, your test scores are a little on the low side. I think you might get deferred until you get those scores up, so I would definetly retake them so you get accepted for sure. Good luck!

I got in with these stats:
GPA: 3.6 unweighted, 3.8 weighted.
Classes: 9 AP classes total at graduation time, 5 this year.
SAT: 1040 (when I got accepted) but brought it up to a 1220.
ACT: 24 (when I got accepted) but brought it up to a 24, then a 28.
Community service: 75 hours-ish.
EC: Honestly, not many. I basically just work or have church activities after school.

He can’t wait to start. He was accepted in August for the Fall term. He was accepted into FGCU, FSU, and Saint Leo, We have not heard from UF but no matter UCF is such a nice campus.

Congratulations! My s is a junior there. He loves it. :)

zebes

Hi, I applied to transfer to UCF in the fall. I will have my AA degree from a community college after the summer semester. I sent in my application with my college transcript around the 20th of December. I couldn’t get my high school transcript for my foreign language in until January 13. I was wondering what everyone thinks UCF will do. I hate just waiting to see if they will accept me.

I will have my AA degree.
3.67 College gpa
27 on ACT

checked my status yesterday, and deferred devastated since it was my top choice :(

Awww, sjersey! You can still get in. If they deferred you and not rejected you, that means they saw some potential. Now all you have to do is prove it to them. Send them your mid-year grades and new scores if you retake tests. I’m not sure if they accept letters of recommendation, but if they do, that would help out too. Whatever you do, do not give up! Especially since it is your first choice. <3 Good luck!

Sjersey, did you apply for fall or summer? I’m sorry!! Don’t be too devastated though! I’m sure you have enough time to bring up your grade or scores!

Okay, I applied Dec. 16 ( had just received transcripts from previous school, couldn’t have applied any sooner) Haven’t heard back yet.

GPA: 3.7 w, 2.8 uw
SAT: 1180 (500 m, 680 v)
AP: 7 total (4 junior year, 3 senior)
cs: about 80 hrs
ACT: 24, but without essay
ec: horseback riding 5 yrs, crew 3 yrs, boxing

I applied for fall and I"m very nervous because I know that I’m borderline. I wrote an essay, and had it checked by two college counselors and my English teacher, so I’m very confident that It was good. Ugh
