Accepted/Rejected 2010

how is the state tuition the same in N.J. the same as it is down here?

I dont believe it is. Rutgers in-state costs will be about $22,500. UCF oos costs will be about $32,700

That figure for UCF oos costs include books and personal expenses. Rutgers in-state tuition room and board is $22,500. UCF OOS tuition room and board is about $28,000. Also, at Rutgers having a meal plan is mandatory and is not a necessity at UCF. The tuition between the two are not the same but within reach.

I know that’s what we (all of her friends and I) are wondering…her test scores werent that high but her GPA and strength of schedule has always been great. She has done TONS of community service too. Needless to say she was severely depressed by the decision not because it was her top choice school but because all of the other schools she applied to minus USF are all more competitive than UCF. She just hopes her test scores got better the second time around since they were the only basis for which she was deferred.

Same here.

You probably will be offered a scholarship, they are just starting to review for them. Clicking accept means you are committing to going to the school. Don’t click it right now!
No, you can submit the $200 by May 1. However, housing will open up for Fall 2010 soon. So if you want to reserve a spot, you’ll need to pay the $250 deposit. The Honors College doesn’t have an effect on scholarships. They have specific Honors scholarships in that school, so it could only help you.

Thank you for the information!

ACCEPTED Fall 2010:

ACT: 20 (took 2x)
SAT: 430-470-440 (took 3x)
GPA: 4.2 weighted
AP classes: 6
EC: 1

1 letter of recommendation

Just got word from my next-door-neightbor: her daughter found out last night. She is absolutely terrible on standardized testing (witness her test scores) but she does very well in classroom setting. She is not the sharpest knife in the drawer, so to speak, but a lot of extra tutoring (Huntington, Sylvan) which helped with the academics. BTW, she applied to the Film program; however her EC is not in the area of film and she never had to submit a sample or portfolio (odd, if you ask me). Maybe they need more females in the program? She’s in-state.

20 on the ACT getting accepted for fall term… that’s odd o_O Someone on CC applied for summer with a 21 ACT, and a pretty good GPA as well, but got deferred… Maybe it is the program that you apply to…

eliza, the stats that you gave us, was it from your neighbor, or yourself?

Could you tell you were accepted from my ucf or did you get a letter in the mail?
Myucf account don’t seem to work; but they emailed that they have my application. I was dual enrollment before. I will have to call them ??

Yes, you could tell if you were accepted on MyUCF. When you logon to MyUCF, go to “Student Center”, “Undergraduate Admissions” and “Application Status”. To answer your second question, they also mail you a letter. I don’t know if MyUCF is down, but try logging on later or tomorrow. Do you have your PID?

JTaylor-TSMom and JerseyShoreMom are correct. I’m sorry that I said the prices were the same. I just meant to say they are within a reasonable range for the tuition costs I am looking into. As per the UCF meeting I went to today, costs for OOS with books and room and board is $29,000 and Rutgers is about $22,000. Yeah, still a $7,000 gap, but it’s not like an astronomical difference (like UCF vs. my other acceptance…Drexel. $29,000 vs. $50,000!) Once again…sorry for the inaccurate response!

I’m just praying I get good financial aid from UCF. If I don’t, I doubt I’ll be able to go =(

ACCEPTED

Elizadoo… i wouldn’t quite take what they think as fact. I know for sure that the film major and theatre majors REQUIRE an audition and personal interview. She had to be accepted to the university before being accepted to film program, and i don’t think auditions have even started yet, so she may be jumping the gun a bit. And yes, those stats are awful low for UCF admission. Unless she has another ‘hook’ of some type, something definately seems off. If she is seriously considering film, i’d have her look at it more carefully. I know 3 kids that THOUGHT they got into the film and/or theatre program this year, only to find out that nope, they STILL have to audition for next years program, and they can only take the basic classes until accpeted.

Hope that helps the girl out…but yes, they are looking for more females in film these days, especially at UF…the female stats were WAY under the male stats for Fall 09 freshman.

Is there much in merit aid? What ACT score / GPA do you usually need?
How many, if any, years do they guarantee housing?

mizzxvii-you got in congrarts!

i want to do film also either that or hospatility so i was aware you didnt have to audition for it untill you had finished all your general level classes is that true?

has anyone gotten in for Summer and decided where to live? My son will need roommates for Lake Claire- anyone out there from Out of state- he is from outside Philadelphia

Lake Claire is not available for Summer. The students generally live in Nike, then switch over to Lake Claire for Fall.
