Accepted/Rejected/Waitlisted?

Post your stats here!

My friend and I had it all planned out that we were going to go to Tulane together. We have the exact same SAT scores (1320) we've both taken a bunch of AP classes (ap chem, ap bio, ap spanish, apush, ap gov. ap psychology etc. etc) and we took the SAT II's as well. I applied by the Early Action deadline and she applied by the Regular Decision deadline. I got in but Imagine my surprise when she gets wait-listed. I don't know how this could have happened! She's even in a varsity sport. We're basically like the same candidates, she just applied later than me.

it's because they got wayyy more applications then expected so they're "raising their standards". i haven't heard anything yet, and it's driving me nuts because all these other people have. I got a 1330 on the SAT. Gulp.

accepted (about a month ago, I think). 4.0/4.0, no weighted (school doesn't do that), ranked 1/230, 34 ACT, 1450/2130 SAT, 800 SAT II Math IIC, 740 SAT II Bio M, 300+ community service, 550+ research (for two projects), lots of school stuff (government, clubs, 4 year varsity swimming), 11 years club swimming, 11 years piano, other stuff.... got a 24,000/year scholarship

and sorry about your friend's situation =( just remember... wait-listed is better than a rejection

I was accepted Early Action, so in like December, with $24k scholarship.

GPA: 3.9/3.67 UW
SAT: 2110 (720 CR, 690 M, 700 W), 760 French, 730 Lit, 720 US
Choir (3 years), Tennis (2 years), Tutoring (4 years), Community Service (2 years), Chinese School (12 years)

It's so crazy how competitive the RD round is. I don't think I would've gotten a scholarship (or even gotten in) if i hadn't applied EA.

Good luck to all the RD applicants! :)

3.35 GPA UW/3.8 W
SAT: 2210 (800M, 720CR, 690W)
ACT: 34
Loads of EC/Community Service
Decent Essays (I thought?)

Waitlisted???

This is going to be an interesting year for Tulane. With no application fee and the now clearly false promise of a quick decision they were inundated with applications, including from very talented people with high grades and scores who would not have otherwise applied. The acceptance percentages and stats and the ultimate yield will be interesting.

Have they shot themselves in the foot and accepted people who will not attend, while creating a negative feeling amongst those with perhaps lesser objective credentials who really want to attend Tulane but who now are waitlisted or waiting for an answer? And of course there are those who have been rejected who were it not for the swarm of "quick, free, safety" applications may have been accepted and attended.

I think the whole thing, including the fact that there has not been the promised quick track decision and no official notification from Tulane to the applicants that they were unable to render decisions on the promised timetable, creates a negative impression.

agreed. the process just seems so dishonest.

i totally agree with columbia1985

so uhh. i got into UC Berkeley early because I got nominated for their regents scholars award buh got waitlisted by tulane. & i thot tulane was one of my reachables. kinda shocked. =[

i think some of this is ridiculous... i think i had about 15 kids from my school apply with all but 3 lower stats than have been posted on this thread... and every single one of them got in... with scholarship money... i think in-state may be a huge factor but still its really crazy

WEIRD?! I got into tulane last year with an 1860 and 3.8 UW gpa.

I was accepted with 3.6 UW GPA/30 ACT/From Nebraska/TONS of community service/decent ECs. I was also awarded the Founder's Scholarship for $17,000/year. I was initially deferred Early Action.

xjchayx. IT might be your UW gpa. They're somehow raising their standards because of the 33K+ applications (INSANE!) So don't feel badly it's a shtiload harder this year than it ever as before to get in!

Went to a meeting last night where it was reported that Tulane accepted 25% this year, a dramatic change from the 44% acceptance last year.

25% seems pretty high considering all the apps. If they accept over 8000 students, are they expecting a very low yield?

Hard to say, jsa928. Last yrs yield was only 19%, so maybe they are anticipating about the same. With these numbers, it would mean the incoming class would be back up to about 1500 from 1400, which may be their goal. I seem to remember hearing something about the slightly larger (1500) class number mentioned somewhere-- maybe one of the live online chats?

That makes it sound like they're done. I STILL haven't heard anything yet. Does anyone think that means anything?

gingex

I can't believe you are still waiting. Hopefully that's a good thing....
