Accepted RHP Students 2019-2020 - Stats and Discussion

Hi y’all! I was just accepted to RHP Class of 2023 and wanted to make this thread to meet other RHP students! I was accepted into Dornsife for Neuroscience with a pre-med emphasis. Hope to meet some of you guys at Explore USC!

Does anyone know where to find the “application Reference ID” that you need in order to join the Admitted Students Facebook group for USC?? Thanks!

Hi @sunshineandrain ! I was accepted to the RHP Class of 2023 too! I was accepted into Dornsife for Health and Humanity. Where are you from? I’m from Southern California and I’d love to meet up! Which Explore USC event are you planning on attending?

hey @lakergirl6232 I’m not sure, but hopefully they send it out soon? maybe if more rhp students reply I’ll try and start a FB or Instagram group or smt

hey @anilepotato !!! im from NorCal Bay area!! i just signed up for the April 16 exploreusc.

@sunshineandrain aw we’re gonna be in san francisco then :frowning: how long will you be in the area? we’ll be back wednesday evening. also, my mom spoke to someone in rhp who said they’ll be setting up an official facebook group for rhp kids.

Actually, we cancelled the trip so we’ll be in town! I’m going to try to sign up for the April 16th Explore USC.

Hi @sunshineandrain and @anilepotato, I also was recently admitted into USC Thornton for Organ Performance, intending to double major in Chemistry. I wasn’t accepted through RHP, but I graduated high school early and I’m in my junior year. I’m from the Bay Area, and looking for a similar-aged roommate, preferably at McCarthy?

Btw, @lakergirl6232, to find your application reference ID, you sign in to your application status portal, and the reference number should be at the top (that’s the number I used to get into the FB group).

@HyperCube Wow, that’s awesome! Congratulations! About the roommates, you probably won’t find anyone from RHP if you want to stay in McCarthy because they prefer us to be in Birnkrant.

@HyperCube If you are unclear about your housing options, please call USC housing, they are super helpful.

@anilepotato Congrats to you too! That’s too bad; so all of the RHP students are required to stay at Birnkrant? I recall that when I was filling out the housing application, I could choose my preferred residential college… But maybe it’s different for the RHP.

@CADREAMIN For sure; I’ll take your advice!

I believe you will have a choice particularly if wanting a certain residential college. But if Birkrant is the one, it is definitely one of the best places to live so not a bad choice at all. But do ask housing. You can change choice anytime before the housing app closes without it affecting your time stamp priority.

@HyperCube When my D @anilepotato received her admission letter and details for RHP they specifically mentioned they want the RHP kids to stay in Birnkrant this year and to make that their first choice. I called and confirmed with RHP. They believe that the environment at Birnkrant lends to making friends faster and the adjustment to college life easier. I’m sure they have some younger kids in McCarthy if that’s what you choose to do.

@HyperCube Hi!! I’m from the Bay Area as well! I’m pretty sure they want RHP kids to room together, but I would love to see if we could room together somehow. If not, let’s still get to know each other!!

Also, Organ Performance? That’s so cool!!

@CADREAMIN I’m super unfamiliar with the USC housing system. Is Birkrant one of the cheaper residential dorms? I’m looking to minimize cost in any way possible, especially since I didn’t think about applying to scholarships this year until too late.

@sunshineandrain check out the housing pages on the website, they have all the configurations and pricing for each building.

@sunshineandrain Cool! I’d prefer to stay with similar aged kids; I’m going to email USC Housing to see if they can make an exception and maybe let me room with a RHP student. Have you looked at https://housing.usc.edu/, like @CADREAMIN suggested? I wouldn’t say that Birnkrant is particularly cheaper than the other dorms… they’re all about $5,000-$7,000 per semester (McCarthy has one that’s $3,300/semester though).

Yeah, the organ’s a really fun instrument!

@HyperCube yeah, I haven’t looked at it yet. schools been kind of crazy. I’m gonna look at the housing prices tonight and possibly email the USC Housing office to try and and see if I can stay in one of the cheaper dorms. sorry if this is a dumb question, but does USC allow us to pick roommates?

@sunshineandrain Once you fill out the Housing application, you can pick your preferred roommate/s depending on their hobbies, study style, etc.
