Accepted Spring 2013

So i've been accepted to USC, but it says for Spring 2013, not Fall 2012. Is this because of the, ahem, quality of my application?

USC does not use a waiting list. Instead they accept people for spring. Occasionally, if they don’t hit their expected yield, they bump people up to fall. The good news is you are in!

So, its their version of a waiting list - but one that guarantees admission in the Spring?

You are guaranteed admission. Congratulations!!! And yes, you can move up but you must be proactive.

I suppose i should be thankful to be accepted to USC, but i cant help feeling a bit cheated to only be on the waiting list. =(

ellebud, can you elaborate on “you must be proactive” ?? LOL

kmcemo, would you mind sharing your scores so i can see where i compare?

sat 2110 (super)
3.75/4.2
not superior, but i really think it was my essay that helped.

There is no ED, EA or waiting list at SC. They do not have the waiting lists of some colleges with over 700 or 800 names. Perhaps only 20 or 30 may be admitted from the list. At SC a student is in or sent a letter of regret.

Some students take this as an opportunity to take general education classes, travel, work to gain experience, upgrade skills in writing or language or help in a family business.

Students change their majors frequently at orientation. Some majors are fairly small. If a space becomes open a spring admit can be brought forward.

Many colleges now have spring admits. One college admits a certain number who do not attend classes on campus, but study abroad the first term.

thanks! well in that case it isnt looking too good for me

thank you! =)

@cleland23 my friend down the street got in who has lower stats than i, so best of luck to you!

thank you!! usc is my number 1 as of now, so im pretty nervous to hear back haha

Does anyone know when you’ll be notified if you are bumped to fall admission?

There are several Spring Admit threads from last year which will give you great information and you can PM some of the students to get their experiences. Search for them on CC.

Re:proactive

You will not automatically be bumped up to fall admission. Y.ou contact admissions via mail. You state the obvious: how pleased you are to be a Trojan…but if the situation arises…well, you could come in the fall. You also contact your department with the same information. Kids have been bumped up.

Good luck!

Big envelope or small?

big. but inside it just says that ive been admitted for spring, not fall.

Here is a link to the articulation policy for spring admits:

[USC ARR : Articulation : Spring Admits](http://www.usc.edu/dept/ARR/articulation/spring_admits.html)

Quick stats on a Spring 2013 admit:
