Accepted student and now trying to make a decision

I got accepted to SU and am considering attending SU but have few concerns.

I will be a pre-med student and will try my best to get into medical school after my graduation. So I plan to be serious in my studies.

I did some research using youtube and other major websites but am concerned with too much distraction at SU. Too much party. Many students seem to have a lack of focus and seem to be focused on having fun. I am afraid this environment could impact me negatively. What do you guys think?

Another major concern is racism. I have seen so many articles related to white supremacy graffiti issues, racisms, rape, and other violence.

Is this something I should be concerned about? Those are serious issues, and the university is not doing enough to address this. I have seen several articles of protesting because of slow responses to the racisms.

Now, I am thinking. Is it worth going to Syracuse University considering those concerns? Should I consider other Universities? Please provide any advice and share your thoughts.

Ok a lot to unpack there, one are you accepted anywhere else? Med school is very pricey so hopefully you are not gonna run up a ton of debt in undergrad , Cuse is about 75K a year. As far as racism, every school has it bc every place have it. I can not speak to Cuse in detail but I have not heard they are know for it. As for parting , yes Cuse is a party school with that said almost every school is , if you are looking for that and if your not there is plenty of kids who are not and do just fine at party schools.

Thanks, NJdad0790 for your comments. I understand. I would like to hear from others as well.

Tom-what’s the COA of S? Do you have other choices? What are those, and what is the cost/

Can’t comment on S’s current racism issues; you may want to speak with current students to get an honest appraisal. Here’s a list of student groups; pick one, visit their website, and cold call(actually better to try to cold email).
May be tough getting anyone with the virus closure, but worth a try.

And where do you currently live? S has got its own unique weather…

Thanks Oldlaw, I need to pay 20% of the Syracuse tuition (80% scholarship) + room and board. I got a full scholarship at RIT (just pay R&B) and no support from Boston University (pay full tuition+R&B: $78k).

What do you think?

I will contact the student groups regarding racism and party.
