My D has been accepted and visited last winter and then did an overnight this summer. She is still very much undecided and would like to revisit schools she's already been accepted at. Just wondering if any cc'ers had attended the accepted student day in the past and if it is worthwhile. I am thinking she should go up on a Friday, sit in on a class, maybe look into study aboard and internship possibilities and then spend a Friday night. Would love to hear what you recommend. Thanks!

We did an Accepted Students Day last year. We had already visited the campus several times prior to it. Some of what you do is repetitive of the regular campus tours, but we always learned something new about the school and/or area. We also found that as the college search progresses you think of a lot of questions that you didn't think to ask the first time you were there and it's always better to talk to a living breathing student/faculty then to try and determine the answer from the website. It's also nice to go back at a different time of year than when you went the first time. I think we visited in October the first time, then went back for a guaranteed grad school meeting in February and then Accepted Student Day in March or April. The campus was definitely different each time we went.

I would also recommend driving around Pittsburgh and checking out the city. Even if you can't go far, check out Schenley Park near campus. My D never really got to see it when we visited because of always having to be somewhere at a certain time, so we took her over to see the park when we took her back from Thanksgiving break. She was really surprised to see how big the park is (second largest city park behind Central Park in NYC). It has a golf course, frisbee golf course, many different playgrounds, an ice skating rink, a swimming pool, picnic tables, hiking trails and lots of green space.
