Hi,
My son is attending the accepted students’ day this Friday. Who else is planning to attend? He just had a fabulous, immersive experience at another college with an overnight and lots of time to hang out with prospective and current students. The schedule for Skidmore’s day suggests that it will be much more formal (several panel discussions) and significantly less interactive. I am not sure that he is going to get as much of a sense of the school culture and student vibe, so thought that I would reach out here to see if other folks were planning to attend. We will be there on Thursday afternoon and evening if anyone wants to meet up.
Thanks,
Angie
My D will be attending Friday as well. Unfortunately she arrives very late at Skidmore tomorrow night, so she will not be able to get together. Is your son going on the bus tour? I think that might be a little more interactive. I do agree that there need to be more times where students can hang out. Regardless of that, I’m hoping the presenters do a good job of showcasing the campus and its personality. PS has your son joined the 2023 Facebook page? A lot of students are posting on that. It may give your son a better taste of the school.
We were at accepted students’ day last week and you’re right - it’s not very interactive with the exception of the “hang out in the gym” time where you can talk to students and faculty from all departments and clubs. I highly recommend getting there early and staying as long as you can. We didn’t do the bus tour (our daughter is back up there now and will be doing that on Friday) but maybe that does it as well.
We are going to a concert tonight, so can at least observe. He is not on facebook, but I will recommend that he take a look. He did attend a good class this afternoon, Ancient Warfare, but not with a student. He arranged that with the faculty
The bus tour is a good idea. I will suggest that.
