DD was accepted. I like her to take a second look at Rowan, does anyone know whether there is any accepted students day? or will it be the same as attending an open house?
DD is not interested at Rowan, we are in-state and she received a decent scholarship. She stayed at the dorm for a week a few years ago for a swimming camp, I think it was how she got her impression. I knew a lot has changed and I would like her to take a second look.
Does Rowan allow accepted student to attend a class or an overnight?
Yes they allow accepted students to attend a class. My daughter did that.
She also stayed overnight, but it was arranged independently. I’m sure if you talk to admissions you could work something like that out.
Just in the 4 years since we started looking at Rowan, it has matured and looks much more modern - brand new buildings opened and still being built. It is an amazing deal financially with the decent scholarship, and while I am obviously a big proponent of Rowan, I think you can be happy in many places by your own attitude. Quite frankly, if it was me, knowing I wasn’t going to have 10 or more years where I’d be paying off a big student loan would make me have a great attitude about a place.
@NJRoadie thanks. Do you know how to register for the Accepted Students Day? I can’t find it on the Rowan website.I made her to apply after many of the posts here.
I visited Rowan last year’s open house with my older DD and I was impressed with the buildings. My older DD eventually decided on a different college.
@annamom The only Accepted Students Day that I see on Rowan’s calendar is for the School of Engineering. My son is considering Rowan too. He has some questions, so we plan to reach out to Admissions to see if we can arrange a visit so he can sit in on a class etc. Someone else here did that and it sounds like they had a good experience.
@Jeni82 thank you. I sent them mail and have not received a response. Probably we just go to the Open House, then schedule another day to try to sit in a class.
@annamom yes, I had called admissions and asked about an accepted students day. They told me it would be in March or April, but did not divulge any dates. We are also waiting…
I spoke to Admissions today (3/1.)There will be accepted student receptions on various dates mid-March through mid-April. Different dates for different programs. I do not know the dates. An email invitation will go out to accepted students either tomorrow or sometime next week.
When I google “Rowan accepted students day 2018” , 03/24 shows up.
I hope they send out the information early as we also signed up for the open house this weekend. I suspect there will be some overlap.
Has anyone heard anything further about events for non-engineering students? S18 emailed Admissions last week and got a response on Monday which said that emails about accepted students events were going out on 3/5. I was given similar info by phone when I called back in February, but we haven’t received any info.
When I talked to them, they mentioned accepted students receptions ( without saying whether it is for non-engineering). Indeed, we received invites for the receptions, I think next Sunday is the first reception, there are a few in April.
We just received the agenda for the accepted students reception and kind of disappointed.
it began at 10:00 with a breakfast and financial aid, then at 10:30, it has the following
Presentation by Dr. Al Betts, Director of Admissions;
Dr. Jim Newell, Provost;
Richard Jones, Vice President of Student Life/Dean of Students;
Dr. Drew Tinnin, Assistant Vice President for Student Life;
Dr. Rory McElwee, Vice President for Enrollment and Student Success;
Mallika Mendu, Current Student
11:30 is the tour, given we already have the tour, I am not sure whether we want to drive nearly 2 hour one way just for the 1 1/2 hour talk. In particular, we had listen to some of the talk before.
