Did anyone go yesterday? How was the program? Would love to hear how your day went.

S, H, & I went. There were a TON of people there, and WPI did a great job. After a Welcome, students and parents split up. Parents heard from 3 panels -- 1 of current students, and 2 made up of faculty. The students were SO articulate and well spoken. They described their various projects, majors, etc. One senior is off to a job w/ Exxon Mobil starting at $87K -- obviously parents were impressed! Another statistic: applications were up 10% this year.

S (our "man of few words") said his time was enjoyable -- students described their experiences, answered questions, etc, etc. They also did some "ice breaker" activities in small groups. He met quite a few kids, many of whom said they would be attending.

Food was decent and S came home w/ a new shirt! He had already decided he's attending, so this was just icing on the cake. We don't live all that far away, so it was definitely worth the drive.

Yeah, some groups came in while I was working in the library. I was scared that they would ask me questions or what have you!

i went (group 10 when we split up, was anyone here in my group?)
i'm really glad that i went. i had previously visited WPI to see a presentation on their robotics engineering program and it was filled exclusively with REALLY REALLY nerdy people. (not trying to offend anyone, i myself can be a bit of a nerd but i couldnt imagine being surrounded with only those people for 4 years) i was so relieved to see far more "normal" people than i would have expected based on my previous experience.
i still love their academic system (project-based curriculum, quarter system, no failing grades, etc.)
i think i will probably attend there in the fall, depending on how my regular decision applications go.
