Accepted Students Day

I was just wondering how many people are going to show up to the accepted students day.
How about in years past (just curious if it is 25% of class or 75% of class). Depending on the amount of people (both prospective and actual students there) is it a good representation of rpi (important part of my decision is the enviornment)

also any advice on staying over. I imagine we should stay over on Friday night (i live in RI and so i would have to leave at 4:00 AM if i did not) but does it usually go into late afternoon and should we stay over on Saturday night too?

can't wait to see everyone there

Here is the tentative agenda for Accepted Student Day. Hope this helps with your planning.

A pretty good number of students tend to show up. The event itself is not all that useful if you've been on campus tours/info sessions before, but it might be nice to see some potential classmates. The food they give you is very good.

If you wish to talk to current students, you'll probably have better luck if you ignore their recommendations as to where to go. RPI tends to try to limit interaction between recently-accepted students and current students (as just one terrible anecdote could discourage a prospective student, and the majority of current students are not being paid to be extra nice), so it might be a bit hard to find someone who isn't compelled to portray the school in a good light.

thanks for the advice...i will definitely try to roam around.

Our D will attend with the family...although she has been there 2x...she wants to get a better understanding of the architecture program.

same here...i visited the campus once and had a great time, but i am really looking forward to being able to sit down and hear from the architecture department, as they were unable to talk the last time i visited

I wish I could go, but I have a regatta that day and I can't miss that, so I'll be skipping the accepted student's day.

i do believe that there is a second accepted students day that they mention on the rpi website and you might want to check if you can attend that one

I will also be attending. I was wondering, do most people are alone or go with family?

We attended Accepted Students Day in 2007 with our son. I think the majority of the students attending brought parents or other family members. I am sure, though, that there were students attending on their own as well. It is a very busy schedule- biggest problem is picking which events to attend, can’t do them all!

To everyone attending the accepted student’s day tomorrow- Have a great day. Sure hope it doesn’t rain. Found out my daughter is working part of the day at one of the ROTC tables. She’s not terribly excited about it as she needs to be studying- ah well- she got “volun-told” so that’s where she’ll be  I’m sure no one will be able to tell because she’ll be smiling, smiling, smiling !!
