Accepted Students Orientation

I got an e-mail today saying it'll start at 8am on February 20th.
I'm a business major, so I'm going

But I have no idea how long it'll last and what I'm gonna be doing there from 8am.
Any upperclassmen, any idea of what this is about?

yea i was just wondering is it an all day event?

Yeah I’m pretty sure it’s all day. You do some extra tours (ex: my year they showed the honors students the honors dorms, which you couldn’t see on the normal tour), and you get to meet with people in your major in the college.

I really want to go to this, but I"m not sure if I can. =/

I heard the Early Action Welcome Day was an all-day program that runs from 8:30 to 4:00. Does anyone know if this event is worth going to? At this point D has been accepted but is undecided about where she wants to go.

We visited NU and took a campus tour during the summer. A visit for us will involve a plane trip and two days out of school for D.

I have not seen an itinerary for this event, so we don’t know anything about it.

General information available here

ljb96:

If Northeastern were your daughter’s dream school and she had already decided to attend, then I would say there would be no need for her to attend this Welcome Day, given the time, distance and cost involved. Orientation is in the summer and is mandatory.

Unfortunately, Welcome Day is designed specifically for an applicant like your daughter: someone who is still undecided. While not a “hard sell”, it is a chance for the university to put their best foot forward and answer any questions and relieve any doubts that an EA applicant may have. NU really wants students like your daughter!

Ultimately, it is your choice and subject to how much of a financial burden the trip would be.

yea i am pretty sure i am going to fly out to attend. does anyone know the exact times?

Fly? Dayam. Where are yall coming from?
I’m going for a 4 hr drive from North Jersey

I guess I’ll see anyone who goes on Sat Feb 21

Tx .

can someone confirm the 8 am start time for the 21? I got an email but it didn’t have a time. Boston is a 3 hr drive for me 8 hours after I step off of a plane from vacation. I’m coming from CT. anyone? I’m still undecided on NU

Man I wish I could come. :(

I’m undecided on if I should go yet. I would have to fly in from Wisconsin, and probably would go by myself because that is all my family can afford.

Do people think it is worth it to go?

I went last year (I’m just 25 miles away from Boston), and it made me decide on NU. Perhaps it was because I got in early, so there were four months when I was just constantly getting mail from NU essentially saying “We want you!” (So by the time I got accepted to schools in April, they didn’t have the same amount of time to attract me.) The International Opportunities info session at EA Welcome Day made me know that NU was right for me. Oh, and last year, it was pouring rain all day. So I knew that if I could love it in the rain, it could only get better.

Thank you for the information about the event and the link. D decided she is interested interested enough in Northeastern to want to attend. Since we’re making the trip anyway, to get more bang from our bucks, we’ll take some to get a second look at another college in Boston that she is considering.

Does anyone know if the Early Action Welcome Day is for students only or can parents also attend?

anyone? 8 am is when it starts? yes or no

8am is registration time. i received an email a few days ago

parents can attend

I’ve already decided on going. But it wouldn’t hurt to see more of what they’ll offer.
Guess I’ll have to stay at a motel or something for the night. I don’t wanna get up at 3am.
