I'm a freshman at MICA, but this is pretty much pre-mica work. (Except for nature near and diana gets ready)

thanks Believersmom, i can't believe that this isnt a popular thread, i mean everyone talks about art schools and what not, but no one has any work to show?

Gosh, I just realized that I never commented on anyone's portfolio, sorry. I am impressed and can clearly see the talent that got you both admitted. Best wishes and much success.

I agree that it's weird so few people have responded, but I'm not surprised. Perhaps the reason why is that most of the folk on here are PARENTS. In my case, I'm the mom of an aspiring artist and I wouldn't consider posting his work anywhere without discussing it with him first. Could it also be that several of the bigger name schools won't accept an online portfolio? I know that's why my S didn't invest time in updating the one he started (in 7th grade!).

In addition, it's a sensitive time for our kids. After all, while their peers are accepted or not primarily based on objective measures like GPA and SAT, our kids are subject to a completely different set of standards that's by it's nature somewhat subjective. Even though he's been in serious programs with plenty of critiques, this is challenging.

Which brings me to time. I don't know about the rest of the seniors out their, buy S is in a demanding IB program, heavy extracurrilars, and knocking out a few final works for specific schools. Doubt he's on here much, except if I send him a specific/relevant link.

I can offer one reason-- I'm a current student with plenty of work, but I'm reluctant to post any of it online until after my acceptance letters come in for a variety of reasons. That said, I'm sure in a month or two there will be more interest!

Not exactly her portfolio as she's only 15 and this is just digital photography, but this is a link to her JPGmag site where she posts what she feels are her best photos. Btw, this is a great site for any photographers out there to get some real world feedback.

Wow, I love seeing this work. Thanks for all who are posting. I can't believe how good everyone is! This is fantastic. I hope if my D continues down this road with joy she will demonstrate such talent.

And such a wonderful refreshing healthy change from the SAT, GPA, EC, AP listings throughout CC.

And to clarify-- I meant after all my letters come in, as I do realize this is a thread for accepted students. I have one acceptance, but it wasn't portfolio-based anyhow.

Thanks kalonity! And, yes I agree with starbright - this is the most fun thread on CC - it's really refreshing to see all this really great artwork rather than hear about GPAs and SATs!

It was down to Art Center and RISD but I ultimately chose RISD. Art Center's a pretty awesome school though, their graphic design program consistently produces great work. I'm sure you'll love it there.

Many students will create and post their work to the Deviant Art website, which can have an extraordinarily diverse group of postings. Many colleges will even ask to see the their work (I know that MICA does since they have asked).

This is a good place for students to get critiques from others and look at a variety of work, assuming they have the time...
