Date submitted/completed app: Submitted 10 minutes b4 the January 15 deadline. Accepted on 2/28/08 :) IS/OOS: In state, Seattle Washington. GPA weighted/unweighted: 3.7ish out of 4.00 # AP/honors taken: 7 AP classes, the rest honors... rank/%: No idea, top decile, I assume. SAT/ACT superscored/regular: 1650 SAT, lmao. hs competitive/noncomp: A bunch of kids got into the UW. Actually, I only know of 3 more that did. essays: Done in 10 minutes. I wrote a word twice. I wrote about my background, and my experience with leukemia. Joking! I only wrote about my desire for a higher-level education and how much the United States has oppressed my people and how we shall one day rise to power and take back what is ours! Top 3 ECs: NONE, ECs are for suckers. I am not a slave of time. Top 3 leadership positions: NONE. In my experience it is much wiser to be humble.

Extra comments/"hooks": Um? Honestly, I thought I'd get rejected. I lost 1.5 credits last semester for being absent...and my grade trend is negative. I had ~70 absences my junior year and 35 last semester.
Other universities you have been accepted at or plan on attending: Seattle U, bleh.

So...I'm just waiting for the next package that includes orientation, final transcript requirements, etc...
**
Also, I have a question, they make the decision to accept you after they reviewed your last semester grades, right?! If not, I'll probably get deferred, although I've been accepted already!** :(

Oh yeah, I forgot, my "declared" major is a combination of premedical studies with Neurobiology. I can't remember if "premedical studies" was actually an option, it was probably in the common app for Seattle U..but whatever, I'll have 2 years to decide. Ya!

You know what Incognito? Your post is gross. There are lots of people on here, me included, that work hard and actually show up for class. The fact that you got in and are basically thumbing your nose at the entire process makes me sick.

How did you get to be so disrespectful? Blech--please stay away from the UW, you will not fit in.

Well, I'm quite grateful that even got in. Although for some reason, the UW felt like my safety.

I can understand why UW could be a safety for in-state students.

& I'm not taking sides here, but sliver: If Incognito really kept a 3.7 GPA while taking 7 AP classes and the rest honors, then what does it matter how much class he missed?
I don't know the reasons behind his absences, but if ditching class means you can't go to a good school, I'd be on my way to community college...

Some people say I'm a crazy because I missed soooo much school, managed the insane pressure, aced my AP tests, and had time to work during the school year.

As far as the SAT goes...bleh...I knew I'd get in anyway, so why try, I filled in random bubbles, and I really needed some sleep.

Stupid me, I should have taken it earlier at a more suitable time.

AP/honors taken - AP US History, AP Microecon, AP Biology, AP Chem, AP Macroecon, AP Physics, AP BC Calc

SAT/ACT superscored/regular: took SAT once: M650/ CR550/ W600, ACT-30superscored, 28reg
counselor rec: went with transcript
teacher rec: didn't send any
Extra comments/"hooks": Intel STS semifinialist, science research since 9th grade
Other universities you have been accepted at or plan on attending: so far only got into UW and Kings College London

Is it possible to join the Honors College as an undergrad at UW

incognito- you are completely out of line. if you hadn't lived in washington, they would have laughed when you applied and thrown your application to the bottom of the garbage bin. you should seriously consider shutting up and being grateful that you were accepted to the uw. you might also want to adjust your attitude, because either a) you'll get kicked out of college in your first semester, or b) you'll graduate but never get a job because nobody will hire your sorry behind.

But they didn't. :)

Also, I plan on applying for late Honors later on as an undergrad. ;)

Okay, I am a bit confused regarding this unweighted GPA stuff...

How does the system work? I know that for honors and AP classes, the number associated with your grade is higher than it would be if it were a normal class. How much higher? 0.3? Is it the same for AP and honors classes?

Why does it matter in the context of UW, who (apparently) doesn't even care about unweighted GPA? (Do they?)

kevinatrs--every high school has it's own weighting system. It's not even worth trying to figure out. Just accept that there are lots of different ways of assigning high school grades. Some high schools give 2 extra points for A's in APs, some give points for honors classes, and some don't. Thankfully, each high school sends a school "profile" to the University along with the student transcript to explain/decipher their individual system. People in admissions are quite used to getting to the nitty-gritty of a transcript and become very familiar with how different high schools work. That is another reason it is so ridiculous for kids to be spouting off GPAs on CC--they mean something different to everyone. And an UNWEIGHTED GPA is generally not above a 4.0. 4.7 GPA's (weighted) are possible if a high school is giving major extra points out for APs and/or honors. At D's high school (Ca), our valedictorians would generally have about 11 or 12 APs, all As, and end up with about a 4.3 (1 extra point for AP, none for honors/college prep).

ACCEPTED... finally. god that took forever. (im an international student who lives in america...go figure)

Well I basically wrote this to give hope to people gawking at all of these all-star stats people are throwing onto the forum. Realistically the UW is an excellent school but it isn't extremely difficult to get into if they can see that you've been making an effort grow morally, academically and emotionally. As you can see, my application is far from golden. In fact, it's nothing special. In the heat of worrying about our acceptance into this great school we forget that it actually has a decent acceptance rate. Hope you guys feel a little more at ease now. It'll be cool to see all you guys in september.
Good luck everyone :P

MauiBuilt2008: Hey, I got the same SAT1 scores as you did. Exactly the same lol!
BTW, I got accepted just now by e-mail for their comp sci major.
I agree with you, UW is excellent but it's not hard at all to get in...
