Hi guys! i don't know if there is already an accepted students thread, but I couldn't find one so i decided to start one. Anyone else accepted RD yet? I just got my letter today! I was sooooo surprised because I thought they were sending them out a lot later.

Anyways, Congrats to all those accepted. Woohoo!

(RD accepteds: look up the facebook group, Middlebury Class of 2012... and congratulations!!!, from an ED admit)

you're in california and you already got a letter?? you're lucky!!!
Congratulations!!!!

yeah i was very surprised too! but from reading some previous posts, it looks like they send out about 100 letters early to students they want to invite for an expense-paid visit to the campus.

you got accepted RD? How is that possible? They say that the decissions will be mailed on the 29 march.

i really don't know! maybe it was a fluke. honestly this is so surreal...and i didn't even get to open it myself because my mom thought it was some financial aid forms or something because we weren't expecting a decision this early...so she opened it and read the letter before me. :(
in any case, it was an extremely personal note which addressed very specific aspects of my application, and the dean of admissions even hand wrote part of it. Its so impressive that they put that much effort into each applicant!

I know. I got it by email first and then by physical mail a few days later. The physical package had a similar hand written bit at the end. Its really amazing that they made such a huge effort. Just waiting for the finaid package now. They said that it'd come by the regular decision date. Congrats to everyone who got accepted.

maybe they sent this first acceptance letters to those guys who have like 2400 SATs and unique essays and are the best. Now their selecting the others. That's the only thing I can think of

I didn't expect to be early admitted either (good SATs but not 2400). I also got a very personalized acceptance letter, which was impressive. I'm only sad that the various "Preview" days for admitted students at Williams, Middlebury, Swarthmore, etc. are all clustered around April 14th - 25th.

Found out the good news online today! I was psyched, except my financial aid package is unbelievably small, which casts a shadow over an otherwise perfect day...congrats to everyone though!
