Accepted Students Website

Hi Everyone! First of all, congratulations to all of the regular decision acceptances!! It makes me realize how close we're all getting to actually being at Smith :) :) :)

Anyways, I was accepted Early Decision Round II back in January but never could access the accepted students website. I was wondering if someone could either post the link or e-mail it to me??? I don't know if I haven't received the information for it (which has been a problem for me with Smith Admissions Office in the past) or I simply overlooked it (which seems unlikely because I have kept my eyes peeled for anything remotely relating to Smith since my acceptance in January). My e-mail is SAR50012@comcast.net . Please let me know what I can do to access this website!!

Thanks in advance and congratulations again to everyone!!!

You need your BannerWeb ID number to log in, but that should be the same one you’ve always had.

thanks for the link teenage_cliche!

for some reason though, it won’t let me login. I know that my BannerWeb ID//last name combination is correct but it won’t work =/. I’ll try calling the admissions office to see what the problem is…

yeah i have the same problem!
i was also accepted EDII and i can’t log in to the admitted students website
i wonder why… if you find out, can you post it here? thank youu :)

hmm ok glad it’s not just me. i was starting to think i imagined the acceptance letter haha. i called and left a message today and am planning on e-mailing tomorrow. i’ll let you know what i find out!

Alright so, I got an e-mail back saying that the website is only for regular decision applicants. I getting very frustrated with all that!! All of my friends who applied early decision to other colleges have since had early decision overnights and early decision days where Smith has done/sent us absolutely nothing other then a form asking for our deposit. So, yea that’s the dealio. I guess us EDer’s have to wait another month for anything until all the regular decision applicants have sent in their final deposit =/

It’s because Smith doesn’t have to woo you anymore, you’re committed to going there and you don’t have other offers from other schools. Unfortunately that’s all just part of applying early decision, there’s trade-offs for everything in life.

The admitted students website is not that exciting, you aren’t missing much. And I’ve never heard of any school holding special events just for early decision students, that doesn’t seem to make a whole lot of sense.

S&P, could early decision students be allowed to go to the April Open House to meet some of their potential classmates? Or could she go for an overnight some other time just to connect? I can appreciate some of sdangelo’s feeling left out of the action/attention.

sdangelo, I see you live in Boston. At a minimum, I don’t think there’s any reason you couldn’t go out for a day visit and just soak up the reality that you’re going to a fabulous school. I live an hour outside of Boston and we drive out occasionally for a special concert, lecture, etc. and then have dinner with our daughter.

No, I completely understand. I just love Smith and would some sort of something!

I have one friend who was accepted early decision at Vassar and had an overnight, several at Oberlin who had an overnight and one at Brown also had an overnight.

Just call up Admissions and ask to arrange for an overnight. They are probably feeling pretty swamped right now with RD decisions out, but really, you have nothing to lose. Give 'em a call. At worst, I would think they might ask you to call back in another week after the dust has settled a bit.

The rule about ED applicants not being invited to Open Campus is not a new one (you can find the smithies08 livejournal and see people complain about it back in 2004!). Nothing can be done officially that weekend. Basically, it’s enough of a pain for the admissions office to find dining and housing for the people who are invited (my senior year I was in a group of students attempting to make dinner assignments - it turned out there were way more people staying overnight in the quad than there were dining spaces in the quad!) that they really can’t accommodate ED students too.

That said, if you know a current student you can make unofficial arrangements to visit. No one can stop you from doing that.

Thanks for the information! I totally understand all of this and it makes complete sense from the admissions point of view. For my completely selfish point of view however, I want me some Smith!! I am planning on doing an overnight with a friend of mine later in April. I just would love to meet some more prospective/ED students in person. I suppose I shall have to stay patient and do what I can online until all the prospective students make their final decisions.

Thanks for the clarification, Borgin; it makes sense. Sdangelo, I’m glad you’ve set up an overnight for a later date.
