OK So apparently there is this thing called an Academic Index and I was just curious what some accepted students' AI's were. To figure out your AI click Academic Index Calculator - Ivy League then fill out the info (takes 2 secs) and submit. I'm testing to see if this is an accurate system....

My son's AI was 229 and he was accepted ED. We calculated by using the writing portion of the SAT as one of the SAT II scores.

This is pretty much the epitome of what NOT to do as a Dartmouth student.

Every time you think about your SAT score, God kills a kitten. Please, think of the kittens.

Meh. I remember being crazy obsessed over admissions... though this AI thing is pretty bogus imho. :/

fwiw, I was accepted at Dartmouth and waitlisted at Penn with a 218.

239 AI
rejected at columbia princeton stanford mit
waitlisted penn harvard

I don't even remember my SAT scores.

could you guys please show some respect for the kittens?!

stupiddddddd post. Seriously, why would anyone want to hurt kittens?? I love kittens!

It's to give prospies an idea of what to expect.

I don't post often mostly because I don't like talking SAT or ACT scores.

I'm not going to share mine, but this is college confidential not facebook. I would walk away from any D-mouth student who asked me what my score was. That said, this is a website known for SAT/ACT scores. People who go on here know this.

If you don't want to discuss, that is fine, just post on facbeook. This site is known for that sort of material.

I got nothing wrong with this thread on this site. Another site like facebook, I'd come in with the kittens, but not here.

Keep it chill.

You would never have to worry about this because a Dartmouth student would never ask you about your grades/score (the self-call is very much frowned upon).

In short no it is not an accurate system because if that were the case only those with the highest AI would be admitted and we know that this has not been the case. Dartmouth really stresses building a community of learners (a process that seems to be working really well for them), and uses a holistic process where scores/gpas are only part of the equation.

This past cycle had over 16,000 applicants many who I am quite sure scored high on the AI scale but the overwhelming majority where still denied admission demonstrating that although you may have a certain AI, it is not going to make you a shoo-in to be admitted.

Oh come on, guys. Give the poor kid a break.

225, using top decile (no rank at my school).

Agreed. It's just a chance thread in reverse, after all.

229, accepted ED.

i think its interesting, if not complete b.s.
220 accepted at dartmouth, cornell. rejected at princeton, yale

I can't do the academic index because I didn't take the SAT. I only took the ACT, but I'll give you my quick stats:

ACT: 33C, 34E, 34M, 32R, 31S, 09W
SAT II: Math II: 760, Chem: 750
GPA: 3.98 UW.

If you read this page (http://www.collegeconfidential.com/ai_rank.htm), an admissions officer from Dartmouth describes the correlation between AI and acceptance. Still, I would not trust this as an indicator of acceptance.

That being said, I scored a 233 and was rejected by Harvard, Stanford, Yale and waitlisted at U. Chicago and Duke.

Well for one thing they claim that they don't use it anymore...

AI Rank: 5/9. I hate you SATs, ruin my life. Still going to Dartmouth though so all is good.
