Accepted Students

Hey everyone -

I was accepted Early Action today. Who else? Are you guys planning on going?

Congratulations! My S applied EA too and has not heard yet. He got his app in early. Just curious, are you a recruited athlete? Did you apply with a particular major in mind?

I'm not an athlete - I applied for communications/journalism (I'm a sports writer for four publications), and got my application in on November 11th

Thanks. Seems like admission letters are not going out all together. Originally, EA notification was not supposed to be until early February anyway.

i got in, from NY...so pumped, should i have heard about money now? or later?

Doogie, Congratulations! When did you hear? My S has not heard yet.

i heard friday

i heard December 15th. Got into the Honors Program as a finance major w/ a nice merit scholarship. In terms of whether I'll attend or not, who knows? But I certainly wouldn't mind being a Husky.

i didnt hear about any money, i guess that means im not getting any?

Doogie, when you say "money", are you referring to merit aid or financial aid?

My friend (who applied for financial aid) got in the other day and they haven't sent her a fin aid package yet. On the other hand, if your talking about merit scholarships, I would assume you probably won't get any because mine came with my acceptance letter. Just my 2 cents...

yea merit aid, im not gettin financial aid.

do u think me being out of state has anything to do with not getting money, my SAT scores and grades are weeeell above their average

on their website, they claim that the average honors student has a 1360 SAT and is in the top 4% of their class. If your stats are above that average I would call the admissions office and tell them you'd be interested if they have any more spots.

And as far as I know, being out of state has little to do with it.

I got accepted yesterday to the pharmacy program. I have a 3.5 UW GPA and 1190 on the SAT. I'm debating between here and Northeastern. I was deferred at Northeastern, however, so this school is looking better and better every day.

In State Acceptance to Int'l Bus. Program

GPA: 3.8 unweighted
ACT: 28

I recieved a $30,000 merit package...but I'm not going to Uconn

did you get the merit scholarship with your acceptance packet or in the mail afterwards?

yea good ques, im really wondering why i didnt get a scholarship

Equinoxair. If you got accepted to the pharm program you are looking at a hell of a good situation. The pharm school building is brand new state of the art, it is super super super nice. The program is also very very good and really competitive.

have any opinions on the pre med situation at UCONN...im in as a bio major.

Also, what dont you like about UCONN, and what is ur opinion on dorms, food, the size of the campus (getting around easily), lol and what are the ladies like over at UCONN, is there an influx of attractive ones over there?

Yes yes i know academics first, but lets be serious im an 18 yr old...there are other things in life besides studying.

ah thanx for answering the dorms and food, wut bout the others lol, thanks for answering all these questions btw.

Basically for pre-med they could give two craps until you prove yourself. Once you get in the curriculum and do the first round of courses be it bio/chem and have the proper grades they will care more. Basically out of 3000 freshmen a year 50 apply to med school, about 25 get in on avg., but I haven't seen a year with less then half. Unlike other schools UConn will not baby you for pre-med, once you are past the first semester and start having grades to back up your intentions they will care.

Now for dorms if you read my other post I talked about it, same with food. Size of the campus, it looks big and daunting, but you can honestly go from one side of campus to the other with a fairly fast walk in 15 min. They also have buses. Now for women, its a sports school, of course our women are good, and for you girls I'm sure you would consider the guys good but then again I honestly don't rank guys cuz its not my thing.

Now social life, you can have a big one or a nonexistant one. There are always big parties, little parties, room parties, off campus parties, our famous Spring weekend party, etc. There are SOOO many clubs and the gym/workout facility is huge and always has some type of intermural going on.

That being said for a pre-med course load you will bust your ass and eat up most of your free time to get good grades, just like at every other school.
