Accepted! Thread

yes, it is one of my first choices .

sunnybaNANA I applied under Undeclared Humanities if that is what you meant by uh.

Oh okay. Thanks Goldenevence! That means they started notifying out of state students already. I applied to biological sciences as my major too. Many people on this forum already got accepted into biological sciences. This makes me worry :-/

I am different from many other out of state students though. Born here but raised in Singapore. Just took my GCE A Levels last year. A Levels exams are very very vigorous.

But unfortunately my SAT isn’t that good. I took it only once. 1700. Should have taken it a second time. (CR: 520, Math: 710, Writing: 470) SAT IIs are not bad though. Took Math II, Chinese, Chemistry and Biology and they are 710, 720, 730 and 740 respectively. (Look at the trend! hahah. So coincidental! Maybe if I took 2 more SAT subject tests it will be 750 and 760 :P)

Haiz. As you can see my weakness is english. But hope my strengths in other subjects make up for it. I am really scared and nervous!!

But we got nothing else to do but wait. Time is passing by so slowly…

Wow. I’m surprised i even got in.

Thank you to everyone who supported me, it really feels great to be an anteater!!!

Mine is going to be a message of hope.

I just got into UCI this afternoon. I am extremely happy, terribly relieved and most of all hopeful for all those who feel that they might not have the best stats, and those who might have suffered from something that led to a slip in grades.

I didn’t have a particularly impressive story or a tragic reason for a slip in grades, but I knew that I had something unique to offer to UCI and to the world around me and I think by conveying that in my application (essays and activities), I was able to get through to the readers and they understood me. They understood that I am human and fallible.

If you guys have low stats, trust me, you have a chance. If you worked hard in high school, if you care about going to a good school, and if you really have something you want to give to the world around you, don’t be afraid. Of course there will be rejections for some, but when it comes to UCI, I don’t think any of you should rule it out as a possibility even before you receive your decisions.

I am proof. I am such concrete proof that UCI does not just read numbers. I had grades below C’s in junior year… and I got in. They read your application just the same as any other school. They will read your essays and look at your extra curriculars. If your passions and your commitment shine through, the readers will look past your mishaps and mistakes.

So my message to you is to be hopeful! UCI is an awesome school; one of the best in the country. If you get in, be excited and grateful! If you don’t get in, you’ll be just one step closer to where you want to be. You will have other options and one of them will always be to apply to UCI again (as a transfer or as a freshman).

Please wake up tomorrow and be happy. No matter what happens. Learn from your mistakes, don’t lament them for the rest of your lives. Good luck!

wow mitthi, shut up. with ur stats, UCI was a shoe in for u. oh boo hoo u got 2 Cs. i wonder how terrible your high school life mustve been when u had 2 Cs on your transcript. it seemed like you were on your way to community college, huh? if you dont know what im talking about, mitthi has a 4.6 W GPA, 2000+ SAT, and well rounded ECs. for a person to say something like what mitthi said with stats like that is just total bs.

if you still havent gotten your decision yet, hope for the best, but please ignore the poster above me…

Good Luck!

I got in! It feels nice to finally just be in college. :D

hmmm… one of my friends got in today… she applied for asian studies LOOOOL… idk anything else though just saying :O

I was accepted w/ a letter about campuswide honors program. Anyone what that is about? Unfortunately I will not be able to attend UCI, would anyone be able to point me to an email where I can notify UCI admissions of that? I wouldn’t want to be taking someone else’s spot. Thanks in advance.

Congratulations on your acceptance. When you say you got a letter about the honors program, was it part of your email or by regular mail?

Wow Vorharhar, if only more people were like you. Props to you!

Has anyone gotten in on a Film/media studies major yet? Thats the major I applied under. And I’m a transfer student, so how many transfer students have gotten in so far? Im so anxious:/ I’m not sure about my stats…

no psychology majors yet it seems?

i want to know!!!

yeah it seems like there’s no english/humanities majors yet either.
