Accepted to arts and sciences school, major undecided. To Engineering?

I am admitted to Bucknell Arts and Sciences school, and my major is undecided.

I am still not sure what I will want to do, but it is narrowed down to chemistry, business, chemical engineering, or other engineerings. I know that Engineering school is harder than the college of arts and sciences. And I think I’ve also heard that the business program is full and is hard to get in.

I am considering Case Western for this reason; they have an open-door system, which means that once you are accepted to the university, you are accepted to any school in the university (engineering school, business school, etc.) I don’t want to go to Bucknell and not be able to study what i want to study. So, my question is, will it be a problem to go from major undecided either to the engineering school or to the business program? If I decide what I want to do during the summer before my freshman year, will I be able to be in the program I want in freeshman year? in sophomore year?

question 2. Does anybody know what classes I should take if I still don’t know about my major?

Thank you

I've been told that it's better to start off in engineering and then switch. I was trying to decide between engineering or business for the longest time, but decided on engineering for undergrad. Bucknell also offers a required course, "Engineering 100", which is designed to help you decide which engineering field best fits your interests.

Hey! If you declared engineering then yes, you have to take engineering 100, a calc course, physics and a writing course. They will send ou a list of writing courses you can take and most of them are interesting like there is one about films and the different techniques of it.
Our enginnering program is really five years condensed into 4 years so it is difficult to switch into engineering. You can switch in at the end of your fresh year if you have good grades and if there is room in the program which there usually is.
So if you want to try and be a business major your fresh year and transfer into engineering at the end because thats what you decided you like you can.
The business program is usually capped too now because it is getting very popular and they want to keep the class sizes small. There is flexibility since you do have until the end of your sophomore year to decide so there are chances of getting into the business program.
Eng 100 is a class taught by a prof. of every area so that you are exposed to all disciplines: chemical, mechanical, computer science, civil/environmental, biomedical, and electrical. You do one large group project (composed of 4) that is usually interesting and in the middle of the semester you break up into mini classes. It's a really good course I hear.
If you can't decide between the two majors remember this: engineering-you need to really really like math, physics and science. Business is well more management courses. The two majors are two totally different fields and you have to think....which subjects do I like better?
If you want possible classes that are just good for fresh year I listed some under a different topic...like young adult fiction, logic, management 101, etc.

I have been hearing so much about the significant % of kids who switch out of engineering (not just at Bucknell but at many schools)after their Freshman year.

Since you mentioned that the business major is now capped, would a student be unable to switch to business after their Freshman year?? Is that no longer an option due to the popularity of the business major.

And, can anyone compare/ contrast ....say Lafayette, Lehigh engineering / business programs????
Thanks in advance.
