Accepted to Berkeley! Problem..?

Well I just got into Berkeley! Am I thrilled? - Yes
Am I scared? - Yes

I submitted my TAU on January just like everyone else, however since I attend De Anza/Foothill College, I had no idea what courses I will be taking spring quarter. (Since the quarter starts in April). I finally figured out my the courses I'll be taking at De Anza/Foothill a week ago. Unfortunately, I did not get into all the courses that I said I was planning to take Spring Quarter. I called the admissions office at UCB and she told me its too late to make changes on your application and to just wait to talk to my adviser after I get accepted.l I applied as a EECS major at UCB and put down 2 courses I will not be taking this quarter. One of them is a class that won't impact my major, but the other one is a recommended class for my major. -Data Structures

Now I am like freaking out because I'm afraid of getting rescinded. What should I do? Do you think I will be rescinded? Has there ever been anyone who was in the exact same situation as me? Has any EECS major got into UCB this year missing data structures?

My GPA is a 3.98 and I do have all the required courses. It's just this one extra course and the recommended course that is freaking me out..

Hello, I got accepted to Cal as EECS major.
I think you should call them as soon as possible . Or you can talk to your data structure teacher to let you in the class since the admission to Cal.
Good Luck.

I won’t be able to add the class… She’s already above the limit… This sucks… I’m so scared.

Call and talk to them. I transferred last year (Foothill to Cal EECS) and didn’t have Data Structures, plenty of people still need to take 61ABC after transferring. Of course, I didn’t have it listed on my application… call them ASAP. Are you sure the professor can’t add you? Have you explained the situation? If you’re missing a lot of CS classes you might also wanna consider taking some of them over the summer at Berkeley.

Also, on an unrelated note, make sure your transcripts get sent on time… Foothill didn’t send mail mine until the day after the deadline, and I almost got rescinded for it… -_- It’s not fun getting an email explaining that your admission is about to be cancelled in 5 days. :P

Okay that makes me feel a little better… I don’t know whether I should call them or email them. I could say a lot more on email than the phone. I’m still really scared… Anyone else know someone who were in a situation similar to mine?

And wow, thanks a lot for the heads up about Foothill… That would be really scary and would suck a lot…

If its anything like my professors (I’m in smccd) then go to the teacher and tell them you need to get in for Cal. Most classes, kids drop anyway, so you might be able to squeeze in there.

Good luck!

Yea it’s too late to add the course… She won’t let me… This sucks…

On a related topic, I’m admitted to UCB as well, but during Spring term, due to a conflict in schedule, I changed a GE course from History to Philosophy, both of them satisfy the same area for IGETC. Would that be a problem for UCB with such change?

When in doubt call them and ask

chill bro you got into berkeley

It’s a recommended class, if not required you’ll be fine so long as you have your 90 quarter units done by the end of spring quarter. good luck at CAL!
