Accepted to Cal, Rejected From?

I got accepted to Berkeley and I didn’t get in to other schools with similar or higher acceptance rates.

Schools I did not get in to w/ higher acceptance rates:
UCI - 52% (2004)

Schools I did not get in to w/ comparable acceptance rates:
UCLA - 26% (as of 2005)
Williams College - 21% (2004)

So it was definitely an exciting surprise to get into Berkeley (26% as of 2005)

here...
rejected by ucla because have yet complete the physics series... :(

I was not rejected by any of the universities I applied to, but I was waitlisted at Stanford.

Brown... i applied early, got deferred, and then rejected. but Berkeley and Brown were kind of tied for first choice soo .. yay

University of Pennsylvania - Wharton

stanford.....

ucla.......

rejected: Harvard
waitlisted: Yale

but you know, even though I did get rejected from my #1 school (Upenn-Wharton), it turned out to be a good thing overall. Sure the business program at Cal is 0.3 points lower than Wharton's... But Cal's curriculum is more open than Wharton's. I can also stay in California and be close to my family. The business program is general management rather than a specialty and is not comparable to a mini-MBA. I can double major at Cal more easily than at Wharton. I save a lot of money (only have to pay 7K a year) And... I'm not planning to leave California when I'm older. Cal offers a good name in California... The list goes on... It all turned out good IMHO :)

usc and nyu....i think private school judge ppl more strictly...i didn't even expect Cal

^ LOLZ! Congrats for getting in. You must have had a really good personal statement and really interesting life experiences. Berkeley loves people with super interesting backgrounds...

Rejected from UCLA, USC, and MIT

Rejected Harvard, Duke, Penn, Stanford, Northwestern, Johns Hopkins, UCLA. Waitlisted WashU, Emory, Chicago.

Sleepabliss, pardon me if I'm wrong, but it looks like you are presuming that you will actually get admitted to the Haas UG program. What if you don't? Keep in mind that only about half of all continuing Berkeley students who apply to get into the Haas UG program are actually admitted. And that's just talking about those who apply. A lot of Berkeley students who want to get into Haas don't even apply, because they know they won't get in. For example, if you have straight C's at Berkeley, you're not going to waste your time filling out the Haas application.

Sakky? Was that really necessary? What if you don't wake up tomorrow? Because some people won't you know. I'm just letting you know so you won't get your hopes high of continuing this futile facade called life...

Well, I think Berkeley economics majors do as well if not better on average in certain fields than Haas majors. It does seem to me buy side careers in finance have more Berkeley economics majors than Haas majors...

i dont know sakky. maybe i wont get admitted. but then again, I'm trying really hard to get in :-/

Like... I'll have 4 business/accounting classes that I can transfer from community college before I enter Berkeley. Um, I'm studying hard for the AP tests. I'll be junior standing if I pass all them. And I'm going to read many economics and business books all throughout this summer so I can get a headstart. I hope I get in. But yeah, you're right, it's 50/50. But let's remain optimistic right? YAY!

Accepted at Cal, rejected from UPenn, Brown, UCLA, and Dartmouth.

Rejected from Stanford and UCLA.

i hate this thread...spreading salt on open wounds, are we not? :p
