Hello! i just got accepted to CSULB and on my acceptance letter/email it says that I was accepted as Nursing RN BS. However my friend also applied as a nursing major, but got accepted under "pre-nursing". I was wondering what is the difference?

Are you coming in with AP credits or other credits?? If so, that may be why. Does your friend lack AP credits or other credits?

Like most nursing programs, without any prior credits, the first 1-2 years are “pre-nursing” and you’re doing your pre-reqs and Gen Ed. Then you’re accepted into the nursing program - which includes more courses and the clinicals for the last 2-3 years (depending on the school). Some schools have direct admit…I don’t think CSULB is one of them (unless maybe you come in with prior credits or have really high scores or are already a RN and are seeking a BSN???)

CSULB’s nursing is excellent and impacted. So, very likely a very high GPA will be needed to continue in the program.

From looking over their website, it looks like your friend will do one year of the pre-reqs. It appears that there is an app process or qualifying process at that point to determine if she’s done well enough to continue…look over the nursing website to get the details.
