Accepted to Master's in CS without research?

So I've been reading around, and have concluded that research and/or publications are definitely important in getting into a good graduate computer science program. However it seems most of what I've read seems to be leaning more towards the PhD side of the graduate programs. I wonder though how important is research experience when applying just to a MS program in computer sciene? Would having related work experience be good enough?

Any input on this?

You are absolutely correct. For PhD research experience matters a lot. Good schools look at your research experience for Master’s also. I believe all these things are subtle because most universities say it is not required. It is always good idea to write papers and articles whenever possible to increase your chances of admission.

Thank you for your reply, however my question though is whether getting accepted to a good MS program in CS requires research experience?

It doesn’t require it, however it is definitely a plus factor in your application. It also depends on the caliber of the program. Top CS MS programs will have more applicants with research experience than mid-range or lower-tier CS programs, and programs with a professional focus will have fewer applicants with research experience than CS programs that are known for preparing students for research positions or PhD programs.
