Accepted to penn but not going?

Penns bioengineering department is top notch. They just finished a brand new building for it, as well.

girlfriend, i choose penn over mit...

if you are sure you want to do Bioengineering, I would seriously consider Penn. I think the program is ranked 5 or 6.

im still deciding between upenn or brown... and cambridge university uk.
there's such a thing as being too spoilt for choice, dammit.

If the name is what bothers you, really only HYP (and MIT for Engineering) are the only ones you should consider going to instead based on that factor alone... and of course, it's a pretty poor factor to base your decision on.

Stanford's got the HYP name factor on the west coast - especially with Asians.

european, what country are you from?

i'm going to johns hopkins!! for IR...

I'm considering going to CMU, Cornell, or UIUC instead for EE. Any thoughts on that?

I'm still undecided on Penn, Berkeley and JHU for bioE. Just a few days left. Any suggestions?

how could anyone turn down penn???

I heard that JHU is good at bioE, and well Penn's Achile's heel is SEAS.

robotFOOD,
True that. I am listed as a chemE, but, nonetheless, I've hit great luck, because I'm changing, since the research I'm doing with my mentor has really propelled me toward bioE!

Penn is ranked #7 for BioE, and JHU is ranked #1.

The difference is pretty small, so you should consider other things like location, atmosphere, etc.

Penn's weakness is SEAS??? Basis?

yeah, JHU and Penn are both good at bioE, so you should consider other factors. Some of my friends who got into JHU aren't even considering it anymore, because of it's location/environment. I heard that it's really dangerous. One of my friends that goes there doesn't like it either.

heh. i beat u all in absurdity of school to choose over penn... the University of Rochester..! take that! lol. don't get me started on why.

brdc_2,
Penn's weakness does lie majorly in SEAS, sadly, except for bioE, which is ranked #8/9. In other engineering aspects, UPenn truly is not that strong. It ranks #35 for chemE, tied with Columbia. :(

BioE is ranked #6/#7 (grad/undergrad), ChemE is around 20, MSE is in the top 14-15, Compsci is in top 20. I think you're exaggerating.

for all of those that say this thread is stupid, i disagree

people do gasp turn down Penn. There's a reason they have a waitlist. And I, for one, belive that there is nothing wrong with this thread; it's simply a thread to releive waitlisted students

Plus, no one is being forced to post on this thread so quit complaining!
