Accepted to UCF Fall 2020

it took about a week for my child to receive acceptance letter from the mail

@Chickenpet Thanks! And I meant S20. I’m so used to typing D since I have two daughters. My 2020 grad is a boy.

Accepted October 8th, Went into review on October 7th. Very fast:)
29 ACT, 3.83 Recalc. GPA, 4.2 Weighted. Lots of EC. 3 AP 4 DE

Sent application on 9/21. Sent my college transcripts on 10/7 and just found out today they got the transcripts so I just have to wait and see if I get in.

After I got accepted, it took about two weeks for my letter to show up in the mail. Living over 1,000 miles away, it is understandable that the mail might take a while.

For those who have been accepted, do you recieve an email letting you know an admissions decision has been posted in your portal, or did you just stumble upon your decision in your portal by checking it routinely?

No, I did not receive an email about getting accepted. I think I checked my portal at least 10 times a day, but what I noticed was that all updates for me (transcripts received, acceptance, etc) appeared to occur at around 1-2pm CT. I thought that was pretty interesting. Good luck everyone and congrats to those who got in! I have already submitted my deposit and have decided on UCF (go knights!). Currently waiting for housing and orientation information to begin (orientation registration has been glitchy for me).

@Stressed2k18 , thanks for mentioning that that the housing info hasn’t been visible to you either. I was wondering if it was b/c we hadn’t sent a deposit but I thought someone had said that the two aren’t contingent upon each other. I guess I’ll keep checking the portal to see about housing. I keep seeing a message that says it will be available to accepted students in “early October.”

@Mom2NND , my son was accepted on the portal on 10/3 (after checking the portal daily) but has yet to see an email or any postal mail from UCF. I’m anxious for it to be official since the portal says it’s unofficial. Good luck!

After you get your letter in the mail, can you apply for housing without accepting/deposit?

My daughter got into the honors college todsy??. Took about 3 weeks from acceptance letter

@Kayak24 of course! Unfortunately they moved housing to late October. I did send the deposit as soon as I was accepted, so I would not know if there are any correlations.

@funfit I’m not sure, however I feel like with UCF (because housing is relatively limited) they might require a deposit first. I submitted my deposit immediately and therefore am not sure. The only thing it does tell us is that you must be admitted before applying for housing, which is a pretty standard statement.

@Kayak24 the letter came about 5 days after the email/ portal acceptance, and arrived with an honors application that has to be snail-mailed in!

@Mom2NND an email was received re: acceptance.

My OOS son was deferred for a few days and then accepted Friday for Fall 2020. He is very excited since it was his first choice.

My question is what is the $200.00 they are asking for to continue with admission? It says its not early admission but we are confused what it is for.

@MWalker3808 , Congratulations! I believe the $200 is the enrollment deposit but it’s not usually due until May 1st. However, because you are OOS, a housing deposit may have more of a time-sensitive concern - and you can reserve housing even without enrolling.

@MWalker3808 The $200 is the admission deposit. If you think he is likely to attend then housing is something I would do right away. If he changes his mind, you won’t get all of your deposit back, but if having one of his top choices is important he should do his housing application right away.
Keep in mind, freshman are not guaranteed housing. After January, upperclassman start to get assigned to housing, so it is important to do it before then.

OOS D accepted on 10/18- happned to see it in portal, but never received email about decision being posted. Received acceptance letter in mail about 6 days later.

Has anyone figured out how to apply for housing yet? Is it through a link in the portal? Does anyone know the refund policy for housing deposit?

Under Housing and Residence and Life Section there is an apply tab- it explains everything with screen shots. If you cancel by May 2, 2020 you lose out on $100. You can read the terms for each dorm under the Cost tab- agreement terms.

For those of you who have gotten acceptances, first off, congrats! Also was wondering if you have been told about merit aid yet. My D20 just applied on Friday and we’re OOS and it’s really only an option for us with decent merit aid. I think at the info session we went to when we visited they said 2-3 weeks for a decision and then another 2-3 weeks for merit aid. Has that been the case for those of you who have been accepted?

@voyagermom , no expected merit aid for my S20. I believe that you have to be pretty high stats to get OOS merit from UCF but I could be mistaken. Good luck!

Thanks @Kayak24, yup, we know it’s going to be tough but keeping those fingers crossed!
