Accepted to UCF Fall 2020

Last year people started getting scholarships Nov. 1. The year before Nov. 20th.

We just got our acceptance letter in the mail today but it did not have anything regarding the merit scholarship. I was going to call tomorrow and ask about it.

I checked the portal every couple days and that’s where I found out he got in.

@voyagermom: my D has not heard about merit aid yet, (we are OOS too), but my D1 who applied to UCF 2 years ago received merit aid and if I remember correctly it was several weeks after her acceptance letter came before the merit aid notification was given. Also I do remember that when she initially found out she received merit aid it was in her myucf portal that she received a scholarship but it did not specify the amount, only the name of the award. The amount changes each year I believe. At that time I called to find out what the amount was and they could not even tell me then, they said we had to wait for the letter in the mail, which took a few more weeks I believe. She ended up receiving 36K ($8500 per year) plus an additional 2K (which was to be used for the first year). This year, of course, may be different amounts for the different scholarships, but this may give you some guidance.

Im getting so antsy! I applied early August and had all of my scores in and processed no later than September 1st, and only last week I got a decision (deferred for further review). I check the portal everyday because I’m such a control freak haha.

It took them 2 months just to defer me, but then I hear stories like yours where it took 4 days after getting a transcript to be accepted.

I am just feeling so confused and sad because even though a deferral still gives me hope there is so much evidence that just screams “you won’t get in for fall or summer”.

I don’t think I’ll get in because of my low-par stats, but if they really didn’t want me they would’ve just rejected me not deferred me, right?

Any thoughts?

Hi Garrett. Don’t give up hope. I think if they didn’t want you, they would have declined you. I went to their open house a few weeks ago and took a screenshot of their admission statistics from last year. 32,000 applicants, 12,946 offered admission, 3800 enrolled.

My son is a high school senior. Applied on October 1. Still being reviewed. I am worse than you as I check website hourly, even wake up overnight and check. Still nothing.

Please keep us posted. We are all rooting for you!!! Xoxo

@Psgrin , Congratulations! Out of curiosity did you apply for Summer or did they give that as an alternative? Your scores/grades look well within range for Fall, so I’m curious as to how strict UCF is becoming.

How do you know when your application is under review? my sons just says this "

If required documents (transcripts, test scores, etc.) have been submitted, your application is currently being reviewed by our admission committee for the Fall 2020 term.

**NOTE: AP, IB, AICE, and CLEP scores are required prior to enrollment but will not delay your admission decision.

If you are currently dual enrolled at a community college, college or university and have completed some course work, you should submit an official transcript showing that work. However, an admission decision can be made without in-progress dual enrollment coursework.

Please note that if you have submitted an application after the published deadline, your application may be processed for the next available term. We cannot guarantee an admission decision for applicants who complete their file after the published deadline.

Please check back here for updates to your admission status."

Is this good if I sent in everything?

For my daughter she has (had? Not sure if it’s still there) an alert in this area that they are waiting for her transcript from her high school as well from the college she has taken classes at. So I would say that yes, based on what hers looks like, if there is just this statement and not a specific alert then they have everything they need.

@Rosen1001 , I think you are all set. That’s how S20’s portal looked while we were waiting and it didn’t change from that message until he was accepted. Good luck!

Oceanisle, I applied for summer session. I’m also in the top 10% of my graduating class which I think has a lot to do with my acceptance.

@Psgrin , thank you for the clarification bc if someone with your scores had been denied Fall admission, I would be worried for other applicants. Congratulations to you again!

DD20 got her acceptance today, applied around 10/29
ACT 31
gpa - not sure what her weighted is per UCF’s method but think 4.2-4.3 (3.82 unweighted and 4.69 weighted per her school’s method)
rank - school doesn’t rank
3 college courses (3.67 gpa for those classes)
3 APs last year, 4 APs this year
OOS - PA

my son applied in late September and all materials in mid-october. He got around at 1100 SAT and 3.5 GPA. he’s hoping he gets in but why had he not received anything yet? are they doing people with better grades first? and if so usually when do the lower score peoples decisions come in?

@nopatience2020 Thanks for the kind message! I am still deferred, my status updated from

“Your application has undergone an initial review and is currently deferred for further evaluation with the admissions committee.”

to

“Your application has undergone an initial review and is with the admissions committee for further evaluation.”

My school fixed some errors in my GPA which brought my unweighted up from a 2.92 to a 3.08 (not much but still better).

I don’t know if they are going to give me a decision (probably denial, but I hope an acceptance) before I have the chance, but I am taking the ACT in December and sending them those scores once they come out and hopefully they will be better than my SAT scores which is persuade them to accept me.
