My decision letter said I was accepted to UMD-CP for spring admission, and I was wondering if there was any way (through visiting, setting up a meeting with a counselor, emailing, anything) I could almost fight my case and try to get into fall admission? I applied to the business school, but my letter did not mention anything about it and said I was accepted into Letters and Sciences for spring. UMD is my top choice and so I was kind of upset about this, especially since others who got accepted to regular fall admission from my high school probably won’t end up going. I would do anything to just get regular fall admission–not Freshman Connection–even if it means being in Undecided Letters and Sciences and then transferring into one of the other schools like Business. If anyone has any helpful info on what I can do I would really appreciate it!
No it says on the website that you can’t appeal a Spring admit decision…only people who were straight up denied can appeal. But just do freshman connection if its your top choice, I was annoyed at first but like nobody else really knows your in it. Its just that your classes are later and smaller which is no big deal. Before like 2014 freshman connection kids didn’t even have get to be on-campus dorms so I’m thankful. But I think u can apply to join like global communities or another program during spring semester if you really wanted to.
How difficult is it to transfer from Lettters and Sciences to Smith Business? I understand that it’s an LEP and there is an application process. How competitive is it to get in? My S is undecided but there is a strong chance he may be interested in a business major. Wondering if he should go to a different school that is easier to transfer into the business school.
@pct3 From my understanding of it/what I’ve heard from students here, internally transferring into the business school (i.e. a current UMD student trying to join the business school) is easier than trying to be a freshman admit into the business school. Just keep up your GPA, take the required courses, and, I believe, have a strong relationship with someone that can give a faculty recommendation for you. I’d look into the internal transfer process on the business school’s website.
