Accepted to UNC Chapel Hill, but what if my grades were really bad first semester?

Hey! Got notice that I was accepted to my dream school, UNC Chapel Hill, and I am so excited but I still have a problem at hand. I just moved to a new school senior year, and my first semester at that school didn't turn out so well. I got mostly Cs. Will my acceptance be taken away? Can I write a letter or essay explaining why I got what I got?

And here I was paranoid that UNC would rescind me if I got a 3.5 for this year…
You could likely explain your difficulties in the move if they ask.

Does UNC require your midyear report/first semester grades? Because if they don’t, I wouldn’t see why you would bring it up without them asking first. If they do contact you because of that, they’ll ask for an explanation, but they may not anyway. D’s would get their attention more I would think.

Yes, they require you to submit Sr year grades.

wait do they require final transcript or midyear or both?

I’m fairly certain that once accepted EA, we only need to have a final report sent. You can send them the mid year report if you want, but it’s not necessary.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who’s having some difficulties senior years! I got so scared when I read the acceptance letter because I went from an A to a B+ average which is a big decrease for the French system.

what about one B-? would that affect my admission??

Nope. 10char

UNC asks deferred EA applicants and all RD applicants to self-report their midyear grades through MyUNC. All accepted applicants (EA and RD) have to supply final transcripts. They would contact you regarding any academic concerns they identify throughout this process.

What do y’all think about a D? The rest are As if it makes a difference.
