Accepted to Ursinus...questions.

I was recently accepted to Ursinus via the priority free application. I intend to be a biology major, pre-med track. My SAT scores are 2080 - CR 700 MA 660 WR 720. I was wondering if I would receive a substantial merit aid package. Also, would Ursinus be a good fit for me? I'm applying also so St. Lawrence University, Fordham, University of Vermont, Gettysburg, Skidmore, and possibly Northeastern. Please share with me if anyone has any experience with Ursinus and what they think of the school.

I got in too. CR - 780 MA 590 WR 630. Ursinus is smaller than my high school (in terms of enrollment) so I don’t know if it is a good fit for me. I am also applying to Ohio University, The College of New Jersey, Tulane, Loyola, Muhlenberg, and UMBC.

Congrats! I found out I got in a few weeks ago, but got accepted to the Holy Cross Pre-Med Program ED. If you are going as a bio major and pre-med I would say you should go with Ursinus (based on your schools). They have the best program there by far. During my interview, the guy described it as a “doctor factory”. Medical Schools hold Ursinus in a very positive light.

Good luck with the choice.

I don’t know much about pre-med at Ursinus, but I would imagine that more competitive schools such as Tulane and Skidmore Gettysburg and Fordham have better, or atleast comparable, pre-med programs. Just my own stipulation though.

According to the Ursinus web page, about 90% of graduates who apply are accepted to med school or law school:

[Pre-Professional - Academic Programs - Acad - UC](http://www.ursinus.edu/NetCommunity/Page.aspx?pid=288)

Unfortunately the web site does not provide the numbers, so we can’t tell how much “spin” is involved.

When my D was a freshman at Ursinus, three of her friends considered themselves “pre-med”. One year later, only one still plans on becoming a doctor. Wherever you go, make sure that the school is a fit for other things besides the pre-med program, because it seems like a lot of pre-med students change their mind!

D is very happy at Ursinus (she is / never was pre-med…she’s a germaphobe!) My impression is that students are focused on their studies enough that Sunday - Thursday nights are quiet, but there’s parties to be found Friday/Saturday for those who are into that scene.
