Accepted to USC today!

congrats on being accepted to USC domino, but you are now my enemy. GO UCLA!!!!!!!!

fUCLA .

Business 3.73 116.5 units

dont most california CC's have transfer agreements with USC?

btw, i know the football teams good and that for some reason people really want to go there... but could you say their academics are much better than any of the UC's? although USC has very different qualities compared to a place like davis, i think of them as equals on a balance.

i assume there are departments that own, such as the case with their business program.. i assume there are many networking opportnites etc. but i still cant justify paying 40k a year for a UC caliber education ( which is by the way among the best in the nation) when i could just go to a UC.

i could be completely wrong, or missing something.. please enlighten me courteously

thank you

i agree with you highhopes, and always remember, you can't spell suck without USC.

Stop being an as*hole. UCSB isn't a bad school, but it really isn't very good, either.

"you can't spell suck without USC."

Wow, so hilarious and orignial and creative. I really haven't heard that one before. There aren't any jokes like that with UCSB, I'll admit, but that's because no one really cares about UCSB. If you want a GOOD UC, you go to UCLA, or Berk, or even UCSD. UCSB= whatever.

I wouldn't make a big deal about that stupid joke if it were coming from a UCLA student, or a Berkeley student. But some Santa Barbara student? How random and lame is that?

"btw, i know the football teams good and that for some reason people really want to go there... but could you say their academics are much better than any of the UC's?"

USC holds top spots in the entire nation in the areas of cinema and business. Overall, it's ranked thirty in the nation, higher than ANY UC except for Berk and UCLA. And yeah, Trojan football and sports in genearl are amazing. Which means school spirit and loyalty are amazing. Which means a close, loyal, enthusiastic, happy student body. Which is cool. Don't know if you can get that at UC Davis, hah hah.

"but i still cant justify paying 40k a year for a UC caliber education ( which is by the way among the best in the nation) when i could just go to a UC."

If you DON'T KNOW much about USC-- which you said you didn't-- maybe you shouldn't make assumptions that USC is on par with a school like UCD or UCSB (cough cough).

You sound like a typical Californian who is slightly delusional when it comes to the amazing but still overly-vaunted UC system. YOU GO ANYWHERE OUTSIDE the west coast/California, and you'll see that most other Americans don't give near as big a ***** about UCSB or UCD or even UCSD as much as USC.

"(which is by the way among the best in the nation)"

Uh huh. If you call "best in the nation" being ranked in the late forties. UCSC, for instance, is in the seventies. Riverside is ranked in the eighties. Are they better than USC, too, because they are part of the UC system? Hah hah hah.

"i could be completely wrong, or missing something"

Yes. Exactly.

im still calling USC overrated..

Oh, and by the way, don't you guys know some good manners?

The original poster was ecstatic and excited about being accepted to USC. Did you REALLY have to hijack his thread and find ways to attempt to bash and discredit it?

Lame.

Oh, and nice, short reply High Hopes. Really brilliant. "USC is overrated." Not as much as you overrate a school like UC Davis (LOL).

im not crapping on anyone's birthday cake here.. i myself will be applying to USC's buz program. i admit its a good school but have reservations about its greatness, thats just me though.. dont let a teenager in CC ruin your day because of what he/she believes.

btw, congratz domino

"dont let a teenager in CC ruin your day because of what he/she believes."

I'm a teenager too-- I just graduated from high school and will be attending none other than USC this fall. You didn't ruin my day. It was just annoying. goGauchos, on the other hand, was ridiculously annoying and he wrote far less than you did.

"btw, congratz domino"

Good boy.

"Wow, so hilarious and orignial and creative. I really haven't heard that one before. There aren't any jokes like that with UCSB, I'll admit, but that's because no one really cares about UCSB. If you want a GOOD UC, you go to UCLA, or Berk, or even UCSD. UCSB= whatever."

"I wouldn't make a big deal about that stupid joke if it were coming from a UCLA student, or a Berkeley student. But some Santa Barbara student? How random and lame is that?"

-Peals-05

hey peals-05, why don't you do some research and take a look in my profile and see what school i'm going to before you post something so rediculous and stupid. Yeah, that would be UCLA. I just like the name gauchos and SB in general because i had a lot of good times up there when my brother attended. gauchos is also spanish for cowboys, and my favorite team is the dallas cowboys, so there you have it.

and don't diss UCSB, it is a great school which has 5 professors that have won nobel prizes and is also surrounded by a great area. you have no idea what you're talking about. you definitely sound like a trojan.

and Peals-05, dont even try to tell my that USC is better than UCLA. Take a look at the US news top 100 rankings for colleges in 2005. and while you're at it, look how far SB is from USC, not that far. USC is better, but UCSB is definitely nothing to laugh at. it's not a "whatever" school.

Concerning the usc joke, it is so old and overused that i thought it would be funny to say, but there are always people like you who overreact to everything. You know who even told me that joke a long time ago? a USC fan. why dont u just calm down and lighten up. I'm glad domino got into USC and it was just a joke, and your bashing of the UC system was completely unwarranted.

"hey peals-05, why don't you do some research and take a look in my profile and see what school i'm going to before you post something so rediculous and stupid."

Oh, whoops. Sorry, I didn't care about you enough to actually look up your profile. Sorry I posted something so "rediculous."

"I just like the name gauchos and SB in general because i had a lot of good times up there when my brother attended. gauchos is also spanish for cowboys, and my favorite team is the dallas cowboys, so there you have it."

What! Gauchos is Spanish! No way!

"you have no idea what you're talking about. you definitely sound like a trojan."

Aw, stereotyping. That's nice. Don't diss UCSB, but you can stereotype and make lame jokes about Trojans all YOU want. That's fair and nice.

"and Peals-05, dont even try to tell my that USC is better than UCLA. Take a look at the US news top 100 rankings for colleges in 2005. and while you're at it, look how far SB is from USC, not that far.

No, I would never tell "my" that USC is better than UCLA. I don't think "my" would like that, would he? Because "my" would definitely think that UCLA is better than USC. That "my." What a guy.

"USC is better, but UCSB is definitely nothing to laugh at. it's not a "whatever" school."

Fine.

"Concerning the usc joke, it is so old and overused that i thought it would be funny to say."

Hah hah hah. That's true, old and overused jokes are funny to say. Pardon me. I forgot that it's funny to use old and overused jokes on a thread in which someone is actually NOT looking to see old and overused jokes about their school. Excuse moi. I guess I didn't understand that old and overused jokes could be so hilarious!

" but there are always people like you who overreact to everything"

I'm overreacting when someone makes a joke that USC sucks, but you go off when I say "UCSB=whatever"? That's totally fair, isn't it?

"why dont u just calm down and lighten up. I'm glad domino got into USC and it was just a joke, and your bashing of the UC system was completely unwarranted."

Stop being so contradictory. You're "glad" domino got in? You didn't seem like it. At least, your "you can't spell sucks with USC" comment didn't seem like it. You're only saying you're "glad" NOW because I called you on it. Brilliant.

Why don't YOU calm down and lighten up. I didn't say anything terrible about the UC system. You just need to learn to read and not assume crap.

"your bashing of the UC system was completely unwarranted"

***? You can joke around that USC sucks and that, as a typical Trojan, I dont know what I'm talking about, but I can't say that the UCs are overrated? I said that UCD or UCSC or UCSB aren't that highly rated, and that means I'm "bashing" the UC system? Talk about overreacting, Gaucho.

Are you really at UCLA? Because I think most everything you said was pretty damn "rediculous", and, uh, stupid.

"You can't spell sucks without USC."

THAT was completely unwarranted. Randomly bashing USC on a thread in which someone is very happy to have been able to transfer to USC-- that's good stuff, goGauchos. Typical jerk Bruin behavior.

USC > ucla.... take your us news blah blah blah. I had 4 friends get into ucla and rejected from usc. usc is #1 in research donations and one of the most wealthiest universities in the world (top 3 i believe) and usc has higher avg. sat scores and gpa scores over the past 4 years than all california colleges except stanfart. it is hard to move up in the us news polls... most schools are lucky to move up 2 positions in five years. plus..not that anyone cares, but usc's alumni connection in the downtown l.a area is unmatched. if you graduate with an mba or a law degree you dont have to look for a job... usc will hook you up with one. and let me defend that system...a lot of people say its your money buying you a job, but if you graduated from usc and have the power to offer jobs new graduates...you know what those usc students had to go through... you know the professors and the program. usc has one of the highest graduation starting salaries in the country.... and tops the entire west coast. just a few alumni; neil armstrong (first man on the freakin' moon!). General Norman Schwarzkoph, John Wayne, John Ritter, Ron Howard, George Lucas (freakin star wars!!!), Warren Christopher, Frank Gifford, Will Ferrel, Robert Zemeckis, Mark McGuire, Barry Zito, Mark Prior, Tom Seaver, Keyshaun Johnson....ect. ect. ect. USC is one of the greatest universities..... i wont be going there, but hope to drop a few G's in law school.Dont let us news and all the rankings fool you...i base prestige on wealth...wealth of the school and it's alumni. Behind every great trojan is an enormous wealth. FIGHT ON! and Fucla!

haha, PEALS man i love you.

goGauchos, you lose. go away.

congrats domino. go trojans.

I agree with most of USC's strengths mentioned, but this is absurd. Not only is it grammatically incorrect, it's untrue.

USC's endowment comes nowhere near that of Harvard, Princeton, and UT. USC comes in 22nd in endowment strength. No small feat, but a far cry from 3rd.
http://www.dailytrojan.com/media/paper679/news/2005/03/31/News/The-Power.Of.Endowment-907873.shtml

By the way, I am in no way bashing USC. I applaud USC's efforts to increase its endowment and its programs. Competition is good for both USC and UCLA.

Fight on Trojans, even though we'll always beat you in BBall. ;)

This may have been asked and answered before, but I have not seen it. Just wondering if those who have been accepted have recieved any financial aid info or awards yet? Does it come with acceptance letters, or do they let you know later? If you have not recieved your award yet, do they tell you when you should?
Thanks
Kyle

I didn't received any financial aid award with my acceptance, but you can check online at www.usc.edu/finaid. I was accepted on the 20th and the reward was posted on the 24th. hope this helps!
