I think it would be ok for your grandma to bring you down, but I would double check (especially if you're not 18 yet). The important thing is that you come down, I think :)

To the people who have gotten trustee and presidential scholarships (congrats!), what are your stats? (SATs, GPA, and ECs in particular)

I got the letter for presidential (I was hoping for trustee...but o well...)

I don't have much ECs. I was surprised I got in so early.
Hope this helps :-)

^^^ Made me cry a little. Wish I had better stats.

does anyone know if you were invited for an interview (i got presidential), what are the chances????

i'm wondering how many ppl got invited.. i know taht they do give out 200 awards..

My son did not have these great stats. However, he's a great kid who is excelling at USC. He got in with no scholarships (from USC) and is just thrilled to be there. Don't throw in the towel or beat yourself up. Truly, acceptances are sent out over a long period of time. He got his in March.

nothing yet from here in southern california.

I imagine they are only sending out the presidential and trustee's scholarship stuff? Any rd's that have been accepted yet with no scholarship

i got in!!! (about 3 years ago) ... anyways i am a trustee scholar and it seems like a bunch of all y'all are getting in early for scholarship interviews ... ive been a student interviewer for the trustee and presidential scholarships the past 2 years and ive been a student panel member extraordinaire ... so if any of you have any questions, feel free to ask and ill be happy to answer ... im also in a social (drinking) fraternity so i can answer any questions you might have about the social scene as well ... s/n genx1986

I was invited last year to help do trustee interviews (for Viterbi) because there were an above-average number of prospective trustee scholars and they needed more interviewers than they thought. I didn't do it last year since the times conflicted with classes, and I haven't been asked yet for this year, though.

I got in! I'm totally shocked - people with lousy GPAs, take hope. And congratulations to everyone else who made it!

Question, though: my packet didn't have any mention of a scholarship, and I can't log in to the web site. Does that mean I'm not being considered? (Ugh, I hope not...at least I'll probably make National Merit.)

For those who care:
SAT Is: 800CR710M800W
SAT IIs: 790 Lit, 730 (I think?) US History, 680 Physics
GPA: 3.8ish weighted, 3.4ish unweighted
Rank: 11th or 12th percentile
Major: Print Journalism (Annenberg!)
Extracurricular Activities: Editor-in-Chief of school paper and lit. magazine, orchestra, JSA, a couple of other things
Awards: AP Scholar, National Merit, a few other things (sorry, don't feel like retyping my entire application)
Self-Evaluation of Essays: Content was great, although two of them were pretty obviously not written to prompt and I think my "Why Annenberg?" had a typo.
Self-Evaluation of Recs: Probably pretty good.
Hook, if any: Published writer, finished a novel, involved in education policy.

And I'm from Los Angeles.

^LOL...

Your GPA is fine, especially considering your SAT scores and the fact that you are a PUBLISHED WRITER and have written a NOVEL...

Because you got your acceptance so early, I wouldn't discount the possibility of a scholarship.

I think colleges care less about GPA than they let on. If you want to be a writer, if you're a published author, scoring 800s on CR and W...applying to JOURNALISM school...obviously a GPA marred by classes you didn't enjoy does not mean you have no initiative or passion. Adcoms saw an awesome ability in you to be somebody...and GPA (which includes math, science, even the oddball crappy english class) did not reflect any deficiencies in your case ;).

AW YEAH SON! GET SOME! I got my letter today, I am stoked beyond all belief.

SAT:
M:780 CR: 730 W: 800
SAT IIs:
Math II: 780 USH: 690 Lit: 680
GPA: 4.93 weighted, 4.00 unweighted
Rank: 3/649
Major: Business Admin.
ECs: Orchestra, Musicals, Model UN, Academic Decathlon, Nationally ranked cyber-athlete.
Awards: Many.
Hook, if any: Legacy (my dad donates $50 a year lol, that should count against me)

To usctrojan08 and jbusc -- the info says to wear "business attire" for the interview. I assume that for a guy that means a sports coat and tie? Do they mean it to be that formal? Thx.

i got my letter today too. does this mean i have scholarship?

^^ can you log in to the rsvp site??

not yet. im sure my id isnt on record yet.

hmm that's weird well it still gives the rest of us hope! haha just waiting for monday now! congrats! if you didn't get your admit packet, it would have really scared me! =P

Decision:Accepted
