Accepted to USNA

Just received my letter of appointment today! I got in mostly on academics, because my CFA was pretty low.

Here are my stats for you other candidates who are still waiting and want to know where you stand:

I later retook the CFA (I also applied to USMA, and they asked me to retake it), and so I sent in the scores to USNA too, but they accepted me before they got the new scores. Here's what I got the second time (even though I was admitted based on the first CFA):

I think that about wraps it up

fergsonfire - Do you have a nomination? I bet nukes have a harder time getting USNA because they could end up losing you as a nuke and they don't want that! Do you have any data on enlisted nukes getting USNA appointments and whether they sign any special nuke commitments to get one?

enlisted nukes make up the majority of the enlisted that go to the academy. We are the smart ones in the navy enlisted ranks. Last year of the direct inputs to USNA i think 48 of 57 were nukes so a little over 80%. And yes I already have a nomination. I am a legacy, I get a presidential nomination because my father was a USNA graduate and reitred after 26 years as a full bird. Fortunately enough for me my grandfather and great grandfather also attended the academy. So there is a bit of tradition involved for me.

your family had that much academy heritage, your dad a captain, and you enlisted?

i'm puzzled.

Thats what happens when you do nothing in high school and get bad grades. Then you enlist. Then you apply again, after reenlisting and getting half the bonus upfront.
