Accepted to UT, but not major?

I was an auto admit this year to UT Austin and today I found out that I wasn’t accepted to either of my preferred majors which were computer science and electrical engineering. I really want to be at UT and eventually take computer science here so is it best to go with Undergraduate Studies, Undeclared and internally transfer? Will I be able to take some computer science classes while in undergrad studies and how hard is it to internally transfer? I am going to try to build my resume by self studying some programming and possibly get certifications or build an app as well as keep up my GPA over the year so I could possibly transfer to CS. Any advice, help, or knowledge about this?

At my college you actually have to take the pre-reqs which were Calc 1,2,3, Discrete Structures and Intro to programming to even get into the Computer Science major. That’s probably why. You might want to check their requirements.

There is alot of conversations going on about this subject on reddit. It is very difficult to transfer into UT CS both internally or externally. You basically have to have a 4.0 GPA and even with that there is no guarantee. If you really want a degree in CS, the best path maybe starting at a different university in CS and then try transferring to UT. They say it is easier to get the 4.0 and if the transfer does not happen, you will still be able to get the degree. If your goal is just to go to UT, then you might have to settle for a different major.

Extremely hard to transfer into UT from inside, best chance is probably UTD CS then transfer to UT.
