My instate daughter received her letter of acceptance in the mail today to Clemson University (College of Engineering). Letter also named her as a Clemson Scholar.

congrats! when did she apply?

She applied pretty early - I think that everything was in (application, transcript, scores, etc…) by August 20th or so.

Congrats Southmom! Look forward to seeing your daughter here next year!

Thanks, Pierre0913! She is excited!

How come they say that you’ll receive a decision the week of Feb. 15 if you heard back already? I’m confused.

if you’re selected to receive a substantial scholarship award, you will probably hear before february 15th

I have another daughter who is a junior at Clemson in a different technical major. She received a small scholarship as a freshman - she didn’t find out about her acceptance until the February deadline. So, I guess I’m saying, don’t worry if you don’t hear anything from the school for a few months. It doesn’t mean that you haven’t been accepted.

Congrats to your D, Southmom. Clemson is an awesome place. My D got a large envelope today that says Clemson Bound on the outside, but I have been prohibited from opening any of these things. We are out of state ¶ but D attended a week long camp there last summer and loved it. Does anyone know if there will be admitted students days in the winter/spring where they can come back to sit in on a class and refresh their memory of the campus? She got a provisional acceptance last spring, but it will still be fun to see the thick package when she gets home.

Last spring they had some tours geared towards accepted students but not an official “accepted students day”. (I don’t think they’ve ever had one)

Congrats to your daughter too!

My OOS (GA) son also received his acceptance letter to Clemson’s College of Engineering yesterday. He got a good OOS academic recruiting scholarship offer too, so he’s very excited. He applied 9/21, and the transcript and other docs were sent a couple of days after that.

I got my acceptance letter today + OOS tuition waiver (applied late september)

Does it matter when you applied as to when you will hear? My son applied OOS early Oct. with 2080 SAT, good GPA and good extracurricular. We heard something about an “early acceptance” letter based on SAT, but haven’t seen anything from Clemson about this. This is his first choice and trying to understand the process. Any advice??

I really have no idea. There’s still plenty of time though. I’ve heard of people receiving these early acceptance/scholarships as late as late December.

My son was also accepted into the Engineering program and was offered the OOS student differential.

What does the Clemson Scholar designation entail? I can’t locate any description of it.

I’m assuming the Clemson Scholar = Clemson National Scholars Program? Not exactly sure if that’s the case?

Congratulations. When did he apply?

I believe it was in late September.

No . . . Clemson Scholar does not equal Clemson National Scholars Program. For National Scholars (full-ride scholarship +) students must apply for the Honors College by, I think, December 1st. Then a select group is invited to campus in February for interviews. Students don’t find out whether they are National Scholars until late February.

I think my son (currently a junior) was told he was a Clemson Scholar and it didn’t really mean anything other than the OOS waiver. He, too, got some additional scholarship $ in the spring.

My daughter who was accepted into Engineering at Clemson is a Palmetto Fellow (highest instate scholarship). The Clemson Scholar scholarship brought up her Palmetto Scholarship to a full-tuition scholarship, so hopefully, we’ll only be paying for room and board (assuming she doesn’t receive any additional money). She has applied to the Honors College, but hasn’t heard back yet.
